Is Crown Zenith Unown V & Lugia V Special Collection Worth It?

A few months ago, GameStop released the final Special Collection from Crown Zenith. It makes sense that many months after Crown Zenith’s release new sealed products would also be coming out. After all, Crown Zenith is one of the best Pokemon packs you can buy right now.

What is Unique About the Crown Zenith: Unown V and Lugia V Special Collection?

Unknown V and Lugia V

This collection is just like any other special collection box. However, what makes it unique is a few things:

  • It’s the last new Crown Zenith sealed product to be released.

  • It’s exclusive only to GameStop.

  • It features promos of Unkown V and the even more popular Lugia V.

Unknown V and Lugia V Special Collection Cost?

There’s a long answer and a short answer to this question. The short answer is: if you find it at GameStop, you can buy the Crown Zenith Unown V and Lugia V Special Collection for just $39.99.

However, this particular collection is rather popular right now, and is actually selling for more than MSRP online. This suggests that finding it “in the wild” is rather difficult, and people are willing to pay a markup just to get their hands on it.

For example, the market price for the Unown and Lugia V Special Collection box on TCGplayer is currently 57.78

What Does the Crown Zenith Unown V and Lugia V Special Collection Include?

The Pokémon TCG: Crown Zenith Special Collection—Unown V & Lugia V Includes:

Is the Crown Zenith Unown V and Lugia V Special Collection Worth Buying?

Now for the moment you’ve all been waiting for – if you are lucky enough to find this at your local GameStop, is the last Crown Zenith Special Collection box worth purchasing?

Well, let’s crunch the numbers and find out.

  • Unown V Promo – market price $7

  • Lugia V Promo – market price $11

  • Jumbo Card – market price $5.50

  • 5 Crown Zenith booster packs – $4.65 each

Buying The Crown Zenith Unown and Lugia Special Collection At MSRP is a Good Value

You do get a couple of other things in the collection like the pin (which is, I admit, pretty cool). But they won’t be fetching you much value if anything. So, when we add up the things of value, you’re looking at about $48.

Just at face value, what you are spending upfront is actually less than what you’re getting is worth were you to sell it online.

So on that account, yeah – if you’re buying it directly from GameStop, Crown Zenith Unown and Lugia Special Collection box is definitely worth it.

Buying the Special Collection at Market Value Can Still Be a Good Value

Right now, the market value for the collection set is a bit higher than what you’d pay in store – nearly $20 more. At that high of a price tag, you’d have to pull some pretty rare cards out of those 5 packs to get your money’s worth.

That being said, this is a really cool collection set and there are a lot of people out there who would happily pay the added $18 to secure their own sealed product.

Personally, I would wait until the price drops back down closer to that $39.99 number and pick yours up from TCGplayer via the link below.

Hope that helps! And happy hunting!
