Mew ex, Mewtwo ex, and Gengar ex Special Illustration Rare 30th Celebration Cards Revealed
We are less than a day away from the worldwide release of Pokémon TCG 30th Celebration on September 16, 2026, with many stores offering midnight launch events, bringing the pack ripping experience even closer.
Now, leaked images are appearing all across Japanese X accounts and blogs of three new Special Illustration Rare cards, and one Illustration Rare.
These include the highly anticipated Mew ex, Mewtwo ex, and Gengar ex Special Illustration Rare cards, and they are likely to be the envy of many collectors based on their captivating artwork.
Mew ex – Special Illustration Rare
Perhaps more than any Pokémon besides Pikachu, Mew has been at the center of card reveals for the 30th Celebration. It’s received the set’s top chase card: the Mew ex Futuristic Rarity that is already fetching over $1000 on the secondary market. Now we’re getting our first look at an arguably even more gorgeous Special Illustration Rare.
In the card art, Mew is seen seemingly descending into the woods, totally alone. This fits the solitary nature of the friendly Pokémon who is often depicted alone in the woods or other secluded places.
Mewtwo ex – Special Illustration Rare
Mewtwo ex’s Special Illustration Rare art is totally distinct from the Mew ex. This background is abstract versus the serene setting we find Mew in. It’s also decidedly nighttime themed, with something of a hallo formed around Mewtwo’s head.
Gengar ex – Special Illustration Rare
As stunning and valuable as the Mew ex and Mewtwo ex appear to be, the real chase card revealed today is this pretty incredible and spooky Gengar ex SIR. Always a fan favorite, Gengar is seen mischievously stifling a laugh as it heads into a Tim Burtonesque town. This card is the only card I’ve seen from Pokémon 30th that feels like it should have been released closer to Halloween.
That Halloween theme matched with Gengar’s incredible bankability as of late should catapult this card to the top of the list of SIRs in Pokémon 30th.
Kommo-o – Illustration Rare
Finally, the last Illustration Rare card from the set was revealed, and it’s this very gold-looking night-themed Kommo-o Pokémon card.
With that, the entire Pokémon 30th Celebration set has been revealed, including every single card, Illustration Rare and Special Illustration Rare. It’s been an incredible spoiler season so far with ups-and-downs. And who knows – maybe something has yet to be revealed that’s not a typical rarity?
