Paradox Rift Build and Battle Box and Prerelease Guide

Paradox Rift Prerelease season is upon us, and we’re going to give you an inside look at the Build and Battle Box, and go over some strategy you can use to win.

If you’re looking to to pick up the Build and Battle Box solely for what’s inside, but not looking to play, then rest assured it’s a pretty good product. While it’s going to probably cost you closer to $30 if you pick it up from a pre-release event, you can get it much, much cheaper on TCGplayer right now.

Paradox Rift Build and Battle Box Contents

Here’s what’s included:

• A 40-card ready-to-play deck, including 1 of 4 unique foil promo cards
• 4 Pokémon TCG: Scarlet & Violet—Paradox Rift booster packs
• A code card for Pokémon TCG Live

Is the Paradox Rift Build and Battle Box worth it?

Yes. We always recommend picking up Build and Battle Boxes during the prerelease window if you can. It’s super fun opening these, learning new card mechanics and more.

And Paradox Rift Build and Battle doesn’t disappoint. There are plenty of interesting rares to pull, interesting mechanics to explore, and the prebuilt decks afford interesting deck building opportunities.

Here’s what we pulled

Each Build and Battle Box comes with a prebuilt deck included. Ours was the one featuring Esparthra and Chi-Yu. You can see what the Chi-Yu pre release stamped card looks like below:

Paradox Rift Prerelease Strategy Guide

While it’s impossible to know which box you will get, in prerelease tournaments you generally have a few options because you have to build a deck from what is in your prebuilt deck and booster packs.

You can either:

  1. Use what’s there pretty much as is.

  2. Get lucky and pull a powerful card and build deck around that.

Because I pulled the rare and powerful Roaring Moon, I built the deck around that.

In this deck strategy, Roaring Moon is the main attacker, and you have two different Pokemon that can play supporting roles. Espathra is also a great attacker if you don’t have your Moon handy, while Elekid can take pot shots at the bench.

I was also lucky enough to get a ton of powerful trainer cards, so those all went in. Cards like Earthen Vessel make this deck really powerful.

The Natu and the Xatu are included in the prebuilt deck, whereas the Remoraid and Octillery I got from packs. They help with draw support.

Final Verdict on Paradox Rift Build and Battle Box

The Paradox Rift Build and Battle is quite engaging, and shows that Paradox Rift is a whole new thing compared to any previous Scarlet and Violet set yet. It introduces new mechanics, as well as new and epic Pokemon. If our experience with this product tells us anything, this set is going to be one to remember.
