Play Mega Zygarde ex and Decidueye ex Decks Free on Pokemon TCG Live

Perfect Order Battle Pass

While opening Perfect Order packs and products is a lot of the fun, it’s not the only way to experience the latest and greatest Pokemon TCG set. Indeed, you can experience Perfect Order even before the main set release date of March 27, 2026 by logging onto Pokemon TCG Live which will have the full set available a day earlier.

Of course, to celebrate the new set you’ll be granted two new Perfect Order decks to try out – completely free.

As part of the Battle Pass, the two decks this time around are Mega Zygarde ex and Decidueye ex. Below, we’ll be looking at each deck, going over how their strategies work, and what are some unique ways you can upgrade them to get even more out of your battle pass run.

Mega Zygarde ex is a deck that’s really all about power. I mean, just look at this Mega Pokemon ex to get an idea of how BIG this strategy is.

Clearly this is a Pokémon that’s all about powering up with an insane number of energies and just swinging for the fences.

To make Mega Zygarde ex even more appealing, this deck will include a Core Memory card – an absolutely devastating tool that unlocks a powerful extra attack.

For just four energy, Mega Zygarde ex is swinging for an insane 350 damage. That’s easily enough to knock out most Pokemon you will face in a single blow. But what’s really crazy about this attack is that it can be further boosted by Premium Power Pro to reach even more insane numbers (more on that in a minute).

While Mega Zygarde ex may not have a massive presence in the Japanese meta to date, I could really see this deck popping off in popularity when the set comes out worldwide. Few Pokemon have this “go big or go home” mentality that lets you absolutely demolish your opponents in this way.

Being a 310 HP Basic Pokémon monster that can also swing for 350 is insane, and I for one can’t wait to grind the Pokemon TCG Ladder with this attacker.

Power up your Pokemon with Barbaracle

Powering up these insane attacks isn’t necessarily going to be easy, however. To make things more streamlined, however, you have Barbaracle and its handy Stone Arms ability, one that will let you attach a fighting energy from your hand to your fighting Pokemon – especially good for quickly powering up Mega Zygarde ex.

Indeed, your only issue in getting this deck going will likely be how reliably you can evolve one or more Barbaracles on your field.

Rinse and Repeat with Tarragon

Tarragon

As established, Mega Zygarde ex is admittedly energy hungry. To help solve that you’ll be running Tarragon. Tarragon can help you by bringing any combination of fighting energy and fighting Pokemon from your discard pile to your hand.

This is perfect to combo with the Core Memory attack that will discard all of your energies.

Mega Zygarde ex Battle Pass deck easy upgrades

To be fair, the Battle Pass deck is pretty strong as is. However, there are a few easy ways to make it even stronger. For starters, I would personally run a few copies of Premium Power Pro just to ensure that you can take one-hit-knockouts against beefy Mega Pokemon ex. Mega Zygarde ex’s ability to take those sort of knockouts is a pretty big differentiator in a post rotation format dominated by three-prize Mega Pokemon.

Alternatively, you could tech-in a Munkidori and a Darkness Energy, or even a Prism Energy so that you can use it in a pinch on your Zygarde instead. Munkidori would achieve a similar thing in this context by moving damage around strategically, while also giving you some control over your opponent’s bench.

Scramble Switch, meanwhile, is an interesting choice as an ACE SPEC card, but you might be better served by Legacy Energy – yet another energy that could enable the Munkidori play (should you choose to go that route) while also reducing the liability of leaning so heavily on a three-prize Pokemon.

Finally, the current spread of trainers feels a bit hefty. I would consider cutting out the Team Rocket’s Petrel, Colress’s Tenacity, and Brock’s Scouting in favor of more straight consistency card (i.e. more four Judge cards and another Boss’s Orders).

  • Pokémon: 21

    4 Decidueye ex POR 12

    4 Dartrix POR 11

    4 Rowlet SFA 3

    2 Vivillon POR 9

    2 Spewpa SSP 6

    2 Scatterbug SSP 5

    1 Fezandipiti ex SFA 38

    1 Meowth ex POR 62

    1 Relicanth TEF 84

    Trainers: 32

    4 Lillie’s Determination

    3 Judge

    2 Boss’s Orders (Ghetsis)

    2 Dawn

    1 Colress’s Tenacity

    1 Team Rocket’s Petrel

    4 Forest of Vitality

    4 Buddy-Buddy Poffin

    4 Bug Catching Set

    2 Ultra Ball

    1 Energy Search

    1 Max Rod

    1 Night Stretcher

    1 Poké Pad

    1 Air Balloon

    Energy: 7

    3 Basic Energy

    4 Growing Energy

Who ever said Mega Evolution era Pokémon TCG sets were all about Mega Pokemon ex? Here we have a regular old Pokémon ex doing big things.

Albeit this strategy is pretty zany, the deck build is actually relatively flawless out of the box, focused on using Vivillon’s Big Wings ability to force your opponent down to four cards in hand. By doing this, Decidueye ex is able to activate its Sniper’s Eye ability, dropping Crushing Arrow’s attack down to a very easy-to-reach one grass energy.

That’s not bad considering it’s a 240 damage attack on a 320 HP Pokemon!

Decidueye ex Battle Pass deck easy upgrades

There’s not a whole lot you have to do to make this deck work as it’s already got most of the nuts and bolts directly out of the box. That being said, one clear easy win would be to simply up the Judge Supporter card to a four-of in the deck. Given Decidueye needs your opponent to have exactly four cards in hand to reduce the energy down to one grass, it seems like a no brainer to be running four Judge cards alongside relying on Vivillon. Doing so will just make the whole engine run more smoothly

Meanwhile, we yet again have an interesting ACE SPEC choice in the form of Max Rod. While there’s nothing hugely wrong with this choice in ACE SPEC, you could probably go for something a little more aggressive here – perhaps a Prime Catcher, for example, although you’ll need to then add in something to retrieve energies and Pokémon from the discard.

Otherwise, the deck looks really solid and a lot of fun to play!

While Perfect Order may not be the strongest Pokémon TCG set of all time, it’s shaping up to be very fun. These new mechanics look like a very different kind of thing than we are used to having in the game. That combined with 2026 Rotation imminent, we should be looking at a dramatically different game post Perfect Order’s launch than what we’ve experienced to date.

Use these decks to climb the ladder on Pokemon TCG Live and make your way to the very top of the Battle Pass where plenty of prizes, alternate art cards, Trade Credits, Trainer Points, outfits, and even Collector Crates await!
