Sword Art Online: Catch Yuna’s First Live Performance April 29, 2026

We’ve caught up to the events of Ordinal Scale in real time, and to celebrate, Sword Art Online is hosting Yuma’s first ever live performance on exactly the same day —April 29, 2026 — it happened in the hit movie, Ordinal Scale.

The live event will be streamed via the Aniplex YouTube channel at 17:00 (1:00am PDT) giving viewers everywhere the chance to see SAO’s first AR Idol live.

Who is Yuna and why is the live performance a big deal?

Yuna plays a vital role within the SAO franchise. Although she only appears within the film entitled Ordinal Scale, that story occurs at a pivotal point in the main story, and helps set up the movement that occurs throughout the entirety of Sword Art Online’s third season.

Not only is she an important character to the plot, she is generally beloved by SAO fans for her kind, selfless nature.

Is this really Yuna’s first performance?

While the official Sword Art Online X account is pitching this event as Yuna’s first live performance (with a corresponding hashtag and everything), in reality she has performed on stage before.

Hardcore SAO fans will remember the technologically impressive appearance she made in the fan-oriented Full Dive event that celebrated 10 years of the franchise.

Indeed, Yuna’s appearance in full dive was one of the highlights of that otherwise very memorable event, and it gives us an idea of what to expect during this first full performance for SAO’s favorite idol.

A tragedy adds weight to the performance

In addition to the commemoration of the events of Ordinal Scale, another commemoration is also being remembered: the passing of original Japanese singer/voice actress for Yuna, Sayaka Kanda.

Kanda passed away at the young age of 35 in December of 2021, yet her work and impact lives on in Yuna’s music, as proven by the incredible excitement currently being seen online for this live event.
