The 8 Strongest Kaiju No. 8 Characters, Ranked

Kaiju No. 8 is one of my favorite anime right now, and it’s the ideal watch for fans of battle anime. As such, the show is full of powerful characters. But which character reigns supreme? Below I’ll be ranking the strongest of the strong from strong to insanely powerful.

#8 Reno

Reno’s greatest power is his resilience and determination. Indeed, he’s so determined that he’s even able to tame a unique Kaiju suit – one that grants him incredible power. Reno is not a powerhouse character like some of the others on this list, but his strength rests in tactical acuity, teamwork, and speed.

#7 Isao Shinomiya

Isao is one tough cookie, capable of going head-to-head with even the powerful Kaiju No. 8. His native power is enhanced by his Kaiju weapon forged from one of the strongest Kaiju of all time. However, Isao is clearly just passed his prime. And while his power is still quite formidable, it must have been something to behold at its peak.

#6 Soshiro

Despite being a blade expert in a world dominated by guns, Soshiro still manages to stand out as one of the strongest characters. He’s able to go head-to-head with a numbered Kaiju as seen in his fight against Kaiju No. 10. He even has the edge in that fight until Kaiju 10 morphs into its giant class form – Soshiro’s one weakness.

As strong of a swordsman as Soshiro is, he gets a lot stronger when he gains a special Kaiju weapon thanks to his unique relationship with Kaiju No. 10. While we haven’t seen the full extent of Soshiro’s new power, it could be quite impressive when we do.

#5 Mina

Early on, Mina is the strongest character we get introduced to in the anime, and everybody seems to be in love with her. As the series progresses, however, we realize that there are many other characters just as strong if not stronger than Mina.

Still, where Mina excells, nobody can match her. And her greatest strength is long-range combat. Indeed, she even outclasses Narumi in this category – something which appears to be a sore subject for the captain of Division 2.

Mina’s excellent leadership, professionalism, and fair-mindedness make her a fantastic character in the Kaiju No. 8 universe. And her pet tiger, Bakko, is pretty cool, too.

#4 Kikoru

As strong as the captain of the first division is, Kikoru shows even more promise as a rookie than he did. She’s so strong that even when brand new to the Defense Corps she was granted a special Kaiju weapon tailored to her own, aggressive battle style.

Later, she inherits her mother’s Kaiju suit, further boosting her power.

The best thing about Kikoru, however, isn’t just her insane power levels – it’s her endearing crush on Kafka as well as her insane soundtrack that comes on whenever she gets serious about battle.

#3 Gen Narumi

The captain of the first division is also the strongest pure human in Kaiju No. 8. While most other characters excel in one area, Gen is the rare prodigy who excels in every arena of combat. He’s just as good in close combat as he is at range. His greatest strength, however, might just be his Kaiju weapon eyes – those that allow him to see the future.

#2 Kaiju No. 8

Kaiju No. 8 is one strong MC. Although Kafka Hibino is a pretty chill dude, he’s capable of some pretty amazing feats when he’s in Kaiju form, and clearly Kaiju No. 8 is strong even for a Kaiju. Although not confirmed, it appears as though Kaiju 8’s powers are among the strongest of any Kaiju. Kaiju No. 9 is only able to best him on this list due to the fact that No. 9 has absorbed additional Kaiju power in order to bolster his strength.

Still, you get the feeling that Kafka has only learned to scratch the surface of Kaiju No. 8’s true power, and we’ll undoubtedly see him get even stronger than he already is in the coming seasons.

#1 Kaiju No. 9

After the conclusion of season 2, clearly Kaiju No. 9 is the single strongest Kaiju. That’s thanks to the fact that he was able to consume the power of Isao’s Kaiju No. 2 suit. Just before this happens, Kaiju No. 8 was clearly the stronger of the two once fired up. Following the incredible power that Kaiju No. 9 gains, however, it’s clear he is the de facto strongest being in the show right now.
