The Best Asuna Sword Art Online Cards, Ranked
Excited for the UNION ARENA: Sword Art Online Vol. 2 set coming out on January 30, 2026?
If so, you’ve come to the right place! I absolutely love Sword Art Online and the SAO set has been my favorite UNION ARENA set to date. Of course, SAO’s best character by far (sorry, Kirito) is Asuna. And across both Volumes for UNION ARENA we’ve had a plethora of gorgeous Asuna cards to chase.
In this definitive guide, I’m going to break down each of the top Asuna chase cards of them all, diving into what makes them special and unique, while ranking them from good to great.
#7 Asuna R* ALO
Starting this list off is the Asuna R* alt from UNION ARENA: Sword Art Online Vol. 2. Asuna’s Elfen look from Alfheim Online not be as widely recognizable as her Knights of the Blood Oath outfit, but it’s still one of her most prominent looks that spans multiple SAO arcs, all the way into the Unital Ring arc (currently only in the light novels). This alternate art clearly depicts her relaxing somewhere in ALO while looking thoughtfully at you. That looks is pretty signature Asuna – as strong as she is, she is even more kind.
While the card is an instant must-have for fans, it’s also going to be strong for players, granting a significant buff to those building and piloting the Mother’s Rosario deck.
#6 Asuna R* SAO Survivor
Despite Asuna’s Ordinal Scale outfit not necessarily being her greatest costume in the anime, the UNION ARENA designers managed to dig deep for a design that really makes this look sing. And i’m totally here for it as Ordinal Scale is one of my favorite anime films and this card captures its vibe perfectly. What’s more, this card will add some highly desirable bling to what is going to be the strongest Sword Art Online Vol. 2 deck: the Purple Yuna deck.
#5 Asuna Winner Card 2026 Vol. 1
This Asuna Winner card is unique because unlike the others on this list, you won’t actually be able to get her in a pack. Instead, she’s won through store tournaments that take place at local card shops around North America. I managed to win her at my second tournament of the series after getting first place in a competitive tournament. I absolutely had to do it after seeing in person how gorgeous this card is. It’s very similar to the Progressive SR*** although much simpler.
#4 Asuna Goddess SR*
Asuna in her goddess form is easily one of my favorite UNION ARENA cards of them all. She’s a fundamental part of one of my favorite decks of all time – the Yellow SAO Goddesses deck. While the card is strong and beautiful, I like it equally for its deep ties to SAO lore. Asuna in her goddess form is Asuna at her absolute strongest.
#3 Asuna Starter Deck SR*
This Asuna SR* card is really cool, and highly valuable (worth over $300 on the secondary card market). It’s not hard to see why. Although it lacks some of the gold embellishments that the SR*** has, I like the way it perfectly portrays Asuna in her most iconic outfit. The quirky video-game style elements add character to this card, but what really makes it special is how rare it is.
In the earlier UNION ARENA starter decks, you could get these unique SR alternate art cards but they were notoriously hard to find. Later starter decks discontinued them, making them simultaneously gorgeous cards and a unique part of UNION ARENA’s history.
#2 Asuna SR*** Aincrad
At number two we have what could be considered the defining chase card of UNION ARENA to date: the signed Asuna SR*** featuring her iconic Aincrad look. For many, this card will top their list of favorite Sword Art Online card. It’s market value shows its insane popularity, making it the most valuable UNION ARENA SR*** card of them all.
#1 Asuna SR*** Progressive
The ultimate Asuna chase card has to be this SR*** signed card from UNION ARENA: Sword Art Online Vol. 2. While it may not end up being worth as much as the original Asuna SR*** featuring her iconic Knights of the Blood Oath outfit, the colors are just so gorgeous in this card, and I’m a particular fan of the Progressive series (both anime and the light novels).
The purple Asuna card also gets a bit of a boost for being competitively viable – the SAO Purple Progressive deck is one of the set’s strongest, letting you punch powerful attacks through your opponent’s rested characters. It’s an insane chase worthy of the best UNION ARENA set, and fairly easily takes the number one spot on my list.
