The Top Crimson Blaze Pokemon TCG Pocket Chase Cards

Crimson Blaze is the latest Pokemon TCG Pocket set to release, and it features some Pokemon TCG favorites: the original Kanto starters and their evolution line all the way up to the Mega Pokemon.

Below, we’ll be taking a look at the top chase cards from the set.

#1 Mega Charizard Y – Three Star Immersive Rare

Mega Charizard Y – Three Starr Immersive Rare

Pokemon loves to do epic alternate arts like this for its Mega Pokemon ex cards, ones that include the entire evolution line within their card art boarder. While Phantasmal Flames made headline news for its one-of-a-kind Mega Charizard X, the top chase from Crimson Blaze – and perhaps the card that grants the set its name – is Mega Charizard Y. The more overlooked of the two different Mega forms of Charizard, Mega Charizard Y is a fan favorite nonetheless, and will be featured in the upcoming Ascended Heroes set (although no alternate art on this level has been revealed so far).

#2 Mega Venusaur ex – Two Star Special Art

This Mega Venusaur ex alternate art brings to mind the verdant splendor of the iconic Venusaur we got in Pokemon 151. However, this artwork looks even darker, edgier, and of course gets bonus points for picturing Venusaur in its Mega form.

#3 Mega Blastoise es – Two Star Special Art

#3 Mega Blastoise es – Two Star Special Art

This Mega Blastoise is an instant classic. While not dark and quite, the illustration here is instead visibly action-oriented. The result is one of the coolest Pokemon arts we’ve had in some time. Also, the card creates an overt tie-in with the physical trading card game, featuring the yellow/purple/blue blend of swirls established as the norm in Pokemon Mega Evolutions.

#4 Serena – Two Star Special Art

Serena – Two Star Special Art

True Pokemon fans will immediately associate Serena with Mega Pokemon. After all, Mega Pokemon originate from Kalos, and Serena is arguably the most famous trainer associated with that region. What’s more, this Serena Supporter card has a pretty solid effect, letting you sus out a Mega Evolution from your deck and add it to your hand at random. It’s a very appealing card that should be a top chase for many – especially those whose hearts have been left forever in Kalos.

#5 Shiny Charizard – Shiny Rare

#5 Shiny Charizard – Shiny Rare

This Shiny Rare Charizard reminds me most of the Radiant Charizard from the popular Pokemon GO set released back in the day. If history tells us anything, it’s that you simply can’t overlook Shiny Charizard. Indeed, the most expensive ungraded Pokemon card right now is none other than a Shiny Charizard. As such, this card should be an epic chase card for many.

#6 Aegislash Crown Rare

Aegislash works in this set as it also has unique ties to the Kalos region. While Aegislash isn’t necessarily popular enough to drive too many collectors crazy, Crown Rare cards are always a chase thanks to how rare they are to pull.

#7 Guzlord ex – Double Shiny Rare

Guzlord ex – Double Shiny Rare

Crimson Blaze includes several double shiny rare cards from the Alola region, but my pick for the top one is Guzzlord ex. This Pokemon is very memorable from the Pokemon anime, making it an intriguing chase from the set.

#8 Mega Lopunny ex – Two Star Special Art

Mega Lopunny ex

Getting back to the Mega Pokemon ex from the set, Mega Lopunny ex should also be a top chase. It’s not the very top chase from the set like the Kanto Mega Pokemon ex are going to be, but Mega Lopunny is surprisingly popular, and should be a strong secondary chase for the set thanks to its rarity.

#9 Mega Steelix ex – Two Star Special Art

Mega Steelix ex

Mega Steelix ex looks absolutely epic as a card. While the design for the Mega Steelix’s face is a little unusual, the card pulls the look off completely, making Mega Steelix look like something huge and formidable like it’s straight out of The Shadow of Colossus or Breath of the Wild. Steelix is also another earlier Pokemon included in the set – being evolved from an original 151 Pokemon and making its debut way back in the days of Johto. While the Mega form was added in the X & Y era of Pokemon with the other original Mega Pokemon, it’s still a nod to Pokemon’s earliest days.

#10 Clemont – Two Star Special Art

#10 Clemont – Two Star Special Art

Finally, the last card I want to highlight on this list is yet another trainer tied closely to Kalos: the wonderful Clemont. Clemont is a key trainer from the Kalos region just like Serena, and he’s a character with an amazing arc, going from uncertain Gym Leader to self-confident trainer and innovator. Clemont’s effect also lets you search out to random cards from your deck. But really it’s the nod to one of Pokemon’s best eras that helps Clemont make the list.
