UNION ARENA: NIKKE Purple Dorothy Deck List and Guide
Th Purple Dorothy Pilgrim/Inherit deck is one of the strongest UNION ARENA: NIKKE decks of them all. Despite running a very high number of triggerless cards, NIKKE Purple looks to offset that inherent disadvantage by giving you a few key benefits for having triggerless cards. Below, we’ll look at an introductory Purple NIKKE deck build to get you started on creating your own Dorothy Pilgrim/Inherit deck.
UNION ARENA: NIKKE Purple Pilgrim/Inherit deck list
What’s up with so many cards without triggers?
Triggers are a vital mechanic in UNION ARENA, and many triggers are strong enough to swing the game in your favor if your opponent hits them at the right time. While this deck does run the most important triggers – four specials, four finals, four color, and four raid, for the most part it ditches the rest.
Most decks run only eight-or-so triggerless cards to help keep momentum going strong when their opponent hits their life. Purple NIKKE, meanwhile, runs more than half of the total deck with triggerless cards, making it highly likely you’ll have the triggerless characters on the field that you need to meet your card requirements.
Cards that make running so few triggerless cards worth it
However, the cards themselves do pack enough of a punch to almost make running so few triggers worth it. In fact, two cards actually help you get value out of life in a very different way that could be just as good as having a ton of triggers – assuming you manage to keep them around long enough to find out.
For example, four-cost Dorothy lets you turn one triggerless cards out of life into an opportunity to draw a card each turn.
Meanwhile the powerful Eden site card lets you add any trigerless card that your opponent hits out of life to your hand. Eden also only costs three energy to play if you have three or more cards without triggers on your field, making it a pretty high value card.
As cool as these effects are, they’re still limited to once per turn, meaning you’d probably get more value out of a standard line of triggers than you do with these cards. Still, they’re nice consolation effects that can help you get some value out of life even with running so few triggers in the deck.
Raid Dorothy punishes your opponent for running cards with triggers
The really fun thing about Purple Pilgrim, however, isn’t just that it rewards you for running so few cards with triggers – it’s that it also punishes your opponent for running cards with triggers. It’s sort of a reverse engineering of the typical UNION ARENA strategy that makes for a very fun and decently strong mechanic.
Five-cost Raid Dorothy – this deck’s strongest character – both rewards you and punishes your opponent based on the number of triggers on the field.
You’ll need to have four triggerless cards on your field to use this effect, but once you do you’ll be able to hit your opponent’s characters very hard, essentially removing anything they have on their field.
Secondary attackers for Purple NIKKE
Clearly five-cost raid Dorothy is your strongest attacker, but you do also have several other attackers worth highlighting. While we’ve talked about the solid 4000 BP Dorothy that lets you draw a card when your opponent hits a triggerless out of life, you also have the raid Harran to help you with incremental draw while also containing the Impact keyword.
The other attacker doesn’t exactly fit into the Dorothy triggerless theming, but is still a handy card to include in your deck anyways, and that is the five-cost Scarlet.
Generally speaking, Scarlet is a just a broken card that could fit into any NIKKE Purple deck, even if it’s not playing into the triggerless strategy. Having a potential 5000 BP double attacker that lets you draw when attacking is just really hard to say no to, and it’s not like meeting her full effects is all that hard to do.
While the Purple Pilgrim/Inherit deck with Dorothy at its helm may not fully justify the lack of triggers out of life, it’s still strong enough to be dangerous. Expect to see it showing up at your local tournaments as well as being a force to be reckoned with once the NIKKE Rare Battles start!
