UNION ARENA Second Edition Solo Leveling Booster Boxes Ditch Serialized Cards
Just earlier this week late Sunday night, the UNION ARENA YouTube channel dropped a surprise broadcast in which they shared the news that Solo Leveling Booster Boxes would be getting a second print run to help alleviate demand.
However, what was not shared until today was that these second edition booster boxes would not be containing the most hyped cards from the set: the hand-signed serialized AP cards featuring Sung Jinwoo and Cha.
While a lot has led to the insane and unprecendented demand for UNION ARENA: Solo Leveling – including love for the IP and plenty of desirable chase cards – without a doubt the most coveted potential hits from the box are the very serialized cards that have been cut.
And, honestly, it makes sense these cards were cut. After all, the whole point of a serialized card is that there are only a limited print run of them made. The hand-signed nature of these particular cards make them especially hard to reproduce, as you would literally need to pull the voice actors themselves into a studio and get them to make them.
And while this may seem obvious when pointed out, how many of those people who instantly bought out the restock on Premium Bandai were actually aware of the fact that second edition booster boxes would not contain the serialized cards?
A tale of two markets: first edition and second edition Solo Leveling Boxes
Having such a stark difference between the two boxes is likely to cause a pretty large discrepency between the market value of a first edition Solo Leveling Booster Box and a second edition one. Even though the odds of pulling a serialized card are insanely bad, it’s still in the back of your mind that you could potentially get one whenever you buy a box.
With that driver gone, you are still chasing some pretty insanely valuable cards (like the Sung Jinwoo SR*** that’s worth around $2000 currently).
Without the two serialized cards that helped create the original hype for this set, however, you’re likely to see those Solo Leveling second edition booster boxes go for A LOT less on the secondary card market. Good for players, not so great for collectors.
