UNION ARENA: The 10 Most Expensive Sword Art Online Cards
#1 Asuna (037) (SR***)
Market price: $866.92
Asuna SR*** isn’t just the most expensive card in UNION ARENA: Sword Art Online, she’s one of the most valuable UNION ARENA cards of them all. Asuna is one of the more popular anime characters around. Amongst SAO fans, she’s immensely well-liked. Indeed, in a poll run on the official UNION ARENA X account, Asuna was the most voted for top chase from the set.
At her current market value, Asuna SR*** totally blew my expectations away for what I thought would be her market value, and shows just how valuable UNION ARENA cards can be.
#2 Kirito (SR***)
Market price: $292
The Black Swordsman may be a total badass in SAO, and he may be the main character, but he can’t hold a candle to Asuna in terms of demand. While his value is decent, it’s a far cry from the true chase card of this set.
#3 Asuna (037) (SR**)
Market price: $273.73
Moving on from the triple stars, this Asuna should be the most expensive of the double star rare cards. I like the gold border of the triple star rare better, but the red effect here is certainly interesting. As far as SR** cards in UNION ARENA go, Asuna has a very impressive value, putting it certainly in the upper echelons of cards with this rarity.
#4 Sinon (SR**)
Market price: $231.61
Sinon is arguably the third most popular SAO character, and she’s a fearsome character in both the show and in the game. At six energy cost and gaining Snipe, Sinon can be a powerful offensive character. She’s made even more powerful by the many cards that make up the Green GGO deck. Combine strategic power with popularity and what you get is the most valuable SAO chase card outside of the two main characters worth somewhere around $150.
#5 Kirito (SR**)
Market price: $219.57
SAO’s market value has certainly proven to be really solid, with this SR** Kirito fetching over $200 even months after the set has released.
#6 Alice Synthesis Thirty
Market price: $148.37
The third season of SAO is generally hailed as one of the most popular SAO arcs of them all, and Alice is a central character to that season. Indeed, the entire season is named after her, in a way. What’s more, this card’s fairly strong, and likely to see plenty of competitive play. For that reason, as well as thanks to Alice being a relatively popular character and of course highly rare, Alice has retained a very healthy market value.
#7 Lisbeth (R**)
Market price: $142.70
I’m fairly blown away by Lisbeth being worth what she’s worth. Despite being an R** instead of an SR**, she’s high up on the list of most expensive SAO cards. Clearly Lisbeth is a highly popular character from SAO, and it doesn’t hurt that she’s a core character to arguably the most popular SAO deck, the Blue Aincrad deck.
#8 Eugeo Synthesis Thirty-Two (SR**)
$118.83
Eugeo acts as a foil to Kirito in the anime. He’s young, naive, and filled with emotion. As such, he’s a pretty intriguing character, driven by his desire to protect the ones he loves. His price tag reflects his importance to the plot, as well as the fact that he’s a favorite tech in the Yellow Goddesses deck.
#9 Yuuki (SR**)
Market price: $115.96
Yuuki is a central character from one of SAO’s most memorable arcs. Clearly (given her price tag) she’s a very popular character capable of carrying a market value above $100. While she may not be nearly as popular as Sinon or Asuna, she’s a very powerful character, likely upping her stocks on the secondary card market. Of course, she’s one of the core cards to the Mother’s Rosario deck strategy – one that will get a lot stronger with SAO Vol. 2.
#10 Leafa (SR**)
Market price: $92.50
Turns out I was spot on about my guess about how valuable this card would be once Sword Art Online came out. With that being said, now that I’m updating this list with current SAO market values, I’m a little surprised to see her value compared to other characters on this list. Indeed, Leafa’s a fantastic character in SAO and a determined fighter. Even if she’s never exactly the strongest, she makes up for some of her lack in skill with pure heart. However, the problem here driving her value down be that she’s from the ineffective Blue ALO deck which is the weakest SAO deck of them all.
Perhaps when Vol. 2 comes out her Goddess raid version will be worth more.
