A New Misty’s Psyduck Card Spoiled in China is Turning Heads
Psyduck has had a solid run in the Pokémon TCG over the last several years. Now, a brand new Misty’s Psyduck spoiled for China’s 7th Gem Pack is getting a serious amount of attention online.
Indeed, it’s not hard to see why. Even among the recent relatively high-value Psyduck Illustration Rare cards, this one stands out. Misty and Psyduck are pictured here much more playfully than usual. Perhaps Misty has turned a corner and started to enjoy the company of her popular if cumbersome partner?
And as good as this beach-side illustration looks, Pokémon TCG fans on the other side of the Pacific may have some difficulty getting their hands on it. Right now, there’s no indication that this gorgeous artwork will be made available outside of China.
Psyduck has been one popular Pokémon card lately
Psyduck frenzy isn’t anything new to the Pokémon TCG, however. Recent sets like Ascended Heroes and even Destined Rivals have had popular Illustration Rare cards that feature this Pokémon. And they tend to do well on the secondary market, especially when you factor in their slightly lower rarity.

It just goes to show you that in the Pokémon TCG collecting hobby, rarity isn’t everything. Lesser rarity cards regularly outperform their more scarce counterparts thanks to the popularity of a given Pokémon, artwork, or even set.
While we’ve had a fair share of gorgeous Psyduck cards in our sets, if China keeps getting gorgeous artworks like this – along with the above cards (also with exclusive art) spoiled for China’s upcoming versions of Black Bolt and White Flare – it could end up becoming the envy of the Pokémon TCG world!
The rest of China’s Gem Pack 7 has more familiar faces
Alongside the familiar alternate arts shown above, the Chinese Gem Packs will feature 28 different Pokémon—each receiving a dedicated seven-card set that includes six holo variants and one Illustration Rare.
