UNION ARENA Carta Magica 26/27 Regional Top Decks
Yellow Evangelion finally wins a regional!
I know online regionals have had Yellow Evangelion win several times. However, this is the first time Yellow Eva has won a major, offline regional. It’s a big deal for the deck that has been heralded recently as the strongest UNION ARENA deck overall.
Tournament details:
288 players
8 rounds of Swiss
#1 Yellow Evangelion by H
Here is the #1, regional winning tournament deck. All-in-all, the deck looks like a fairly standard Yellow Eva deck – although the one-cost Rei does feel like a solid tech choice.
#2 Purple Gaius/Spear
Here we have what I would call the strongest way to run Purple Evangelion Gaius/Spear post card cuts. It runs one copy of each of the Spear of Gaius Event card and the powerful six-cost Asuka while also incorporating the Mari techs we’ve seen do well at high level competitions.
#3 Red Kagurabachi
Red Kagurabachi continues to prove itself as one of the strongest decks in the meta thanks to sheer versatility, removal, and attack power. To me, it feels like the natural upgrade to Kenshin that’s particularly strong in the current meta.
#4 Chihiro/Iori
Chihiro/Iori is a combo-heavy deck that’s been doing very well in the UNION ARENA English meta just about ever since Kagurabachi came out. While it’s not been the most dominant deck, it’s shown up in too many high placements at one-too-many tournaments to simply look the other way anymore.
While the deck requires some serious setup to get it right, hit those combos and it can achieve powerful removal and offensive capabilities. It’s the kind of deck that can do pretty good right now in a meta without a single overwhelmingly powerful deck.
#5 Shadow Army by [HQ Josh]
Here he is – the big guy Sung Jinwoo himself! Shadow Army has been a popular deck since it came out with Solo Leveling. In fact, you might even say that it was the most hyped deck in that set. With Solo Leveling proving itself as a strong contender in the current UNION ARENA meta (it had a strong showing in the most recent regional in Virginia as well), it finally seems safe to say that the set isn’t all just about collection/card values – it’s a monster of a set competitively right now, too.
