Is Pokemon TCG: Ascended Heroes More Valuable than Evolving Skies?
News has been circulating on X about Ascended Heroes – the massive special Pokémon TCG set released in January, 2026 – reaching an important benchmark: it’s now more valuable overall than the legendary Evolving Skies.
What’s Evolving Skies and why does this benchmark matter?
It’s not like we aren’t used to Pokémon sets performing well these days. Many sets have drawn big money on the secondary card market, both in terms of sealed product and singles. However, none has topped Ascended Heroes in recent years, and now it has a new achievement to its name: being even more valuable than the legendary Evolving Skies.
Ascended Heroes just passed Evolving Skies in set value and is now the #2 Pokémon set of the last 12 years.

A post from RareRips on X has gone viral for showing the two side-by-side with Ascended Heroes inching just slightly ahead of the heavyweight. This is a big deal as Evolving Skies has essentially been the gold standard in the Pokémon TCG for some time – the set against which all others are compared.
Indeed, Evolving Skies is a truly epic set, and one that I – like Napoleon attempting to charge into Russia – once attempted to master set myself, and eventually gave up due to its insane price tag that was high even several years ago.
Today, a single pack will run you nearly $50 on the secondary card market: a pretty insane price hike from the $4-5 you could once get this pack at from your local store.
Will prices for Ascended Heroes plateau?
At this point, it’s looking like Ascended Heroes madness may never taper off. Even months later product drops are celebratory events within the community. For example, the release of the Mega Lucario/Gardevoir ex Mega Attack Rare boxes saw lines around and behind stores.
However, it’s not just excitement about Mega Attack Rare promos driving this insane demand. Far from it. It’s in hopes of pulling one of the many high value chase cards available in Ascended Heroes, ranging from the phenomenally valuable Mega Gengar ex Special Illustration Rare all the way down to the unexpectedly valuable Psyduck Illustration Rare.
More AscendedHeroes products are still scheduled to roll out, including two new products dropping in April. While these will help slightly to alleviate the insane demand for the set, it’s unlikely these two products will budge the needle much. At this point, even a reprint may not be enough to drive down the price for products. After all, Evolving Skies was famously reprinted and you see how valuable that set is, years later.
