Pitch Black’s First Supporter SIR Card was Revealed in English
Pokémon TCG: Mega Evolution – Pitch Black is right around the corner, releasing on July 17, 2026. Gwynn is the first Supporter Special Illustration Rare Trainer card to be officially revealed in English – and it will undoubtedly be one of the top chase cards from the set.
In Japan’s sister set to Pitch Black (called Abyss Eye), Gwynn is directly after Mega Darkrai ex as the most valuable Special Illustration Rare card in the set. Alternate art Supporter Cards like this tend to do a little better in Japan than they do in the broader secondary market, but Gwynn will still likely be a top chase from the set, with an easy shot at the top five most valuable.
Gwynn plays a powerful role in one of Pitch Black’s strongest decks
Gwynn’s SIR reveal isn’t only big for collectors: this card will also be highly popular among players who will look to run it in the upcoming Hide ‘n’ Sneak deck. Hide ‘n’ Sneak is looking very strong based on early competitive data from Japan, with favorable matchups into many of the top decks in the current Pokémon TCG standard format.
More about Gwynn
Gwynn is a recent Pokémon Trainer we met in the Pokémon Legends: Z-A. She’s highly relevant for this set not only because she pairs well with the Hide ‘n’ Sneak deck strategy, but also because her partner Pokémon is Chandelure ex: a Pokémon whose Mega form is also highlighted in Pitch Black.
