The 10 Most Expensive 30th Celebration Classic Collection Cards
Looking for the top 30th Celebration Classic Collection cards to chase?
Releasing worldwide on September 16, 2026, 30th Celebration is one of the biggest Pokémon sets of all time for collectors.
The entire set list has almost been revealed, giving us an official glimpse into everything this once in a generation set has to offer.
Some of the best chase cards, however, are in the Classic Collection – a subset included within 30th Celebration booster packs made up entirely of reprints of some of the Pokémon TCG’s most iconic cards. Unlike the originals, these cards feature a gold border and a Pokémon 30th Anniversary logo that signify their inclusion in the collection.
There are 30 of these classic reprints in total, but not all are created equal. Which cards top the charts in terms of value? While it’s too early to have definitive market data based on actual card sales for every single card, many listings are already live on secondary marketplaces. Some even have confirmed sales! While it’s a particularly hard choice for the top two cards on this list, my money is on Crystal Lugia.
This Crystal Lugia card (named after its Poké-BODY type ability) is a reprint of the iconic Lugia e-Reader card originally released in Pokémon TCG’s second ever e-Reader set, Aquapolis.
Not only is its original incredibly valuable – fetching thousands of dollars even just raw (or ungraded) – it’s a card that has never before been reprinted. Until now.
While most collectors simply won’t have the funds to acquire its rare and high value vintage original, for many the 30th Celebration will be more than enough as the next-best-thing.

I told you picking between the top two chase cards in this set would be a challenge. A reprint of Pokémon’s original chase card always garners attention. Many will be hoping to rip open a pack with this very card in it on release day – and in-so-doing recapture the excitement they felt 30 years ago when they opened their very first base set pack.
While Charizard always makes a splash when introduced into sets like these, I still feel like it will fall short of the Crystal Lugia in market value. As exciting as the prospects of pulling a Charizard hit like this is, we’ve had many Charizard reprints at this point. 30th Celebration had one for example. And while that card is certainly valuable, I wouldn’t be surprised to see the Crystal Lugia reprint’s value to be even higher.

For many, the Neo era of the Pokémon TCG harbors a ton of nostalgia. As a result, these cards, like the Shining Celebi or Shining Gyarados, tend to be highly valuable.
Case in point: the last recorded sale of a First Edition Shining Celebi card was for over $3000.
While a reprint won’t be worth anywhere in that ballpark (although some 30th Celebration cards are), it still should be one of the more sought after and in demand Classic Collection cards of them all.
Celebi is such a cool, early Pokémon in general, though, and its shining form has been seen in Pokémon films like Secrets of the Jungle and more. It’s hard for me to imagine a world where this card doesn’t end up on the top chase cards list for 30th Celebration.
#4 Gengar (Prime)

While this Gengar card has a surprising bit of lore behind it, it mostly makes this list for the current Gengar fascination. Simply put, modern Gengar cards do very well on the secondary market. Beloved partly for its memorable inclusion in the very first generation of Pokémon, Gengar has become something of a mascot for a wide group of Pokémon fans.
And while classic Gengar cards are worth a solid amount, some of the most valuable prints have been from more modern eras. Fusion Strike’s Gengar Alternate Art has become known as one of the top chase cards of its era. Meanwhile, Gengar really turned heads recently when it became the top chase card of one of 2026’s biggest sets: Ascended Heroes.
The Gengar market seems to have cooled ever-so-slightly since. However, that won’t be enough to keep Gengar off the list of top chase cards from the set.
#5 Magikarp

This legendary Magikarp Illustration Rare was released in Paldea Evolved in 2023, making it a relatively recent chase on this list. However, its impact likely warrants a higher price tag than you might think from such a card.
Designed by fan favorite artist Shinji Kanda, this Magikarp almost singlehandedly kicked off the modern era’s obsession with sleeper Illustration Rare chase cards. Magikarp proved that a card you could currently get in booster packs didn’t have to be massively rare to be valuable: it just had to be cool enough.
With every set that comes out, collectors and investors have to analyze the pool of Illustration Rare cards to identify which new card might be a sleeper chase.
Few, however, live up to the incredible value this Magikarp’s original still enjoys.

This Rayquaza ex already has a confirmed sale, showing early demand. In general, many Rayquaza cards have done well on the secondary card market, bolstered in part by hype for the upcoming Rayquaza-themed Pokémon set, Delta Reign.
Rayquaza has proven itself to be one of the most bankable Pokémon, with cards frequently selling for high amounts, including one highly rare Rayquaza card that recently sold for over one million dollars.

I have to include Pikachu’s Base Set reprint in this list. While a bit of a wild card in this context, I doubt collectors will be able to resist Pokémon’s mascot in its original card art, reprinted in this set’s Classic Collection.

While this Tag Team card featuring Pikachu and Zekrom is part of a competitive legacy, the big selling point is more the unlikely tag team between two memorable Pokémon. While Pikachu is a well-known quantity here, Zekrom is a lesser-known but still noteworthy Pokémon that has driven value in recent sets.
Black Bolt featured two highly valuable Zekrom cards that have helped establish that set as a defining one from the late Scarlet & Violet days.
Many still have fond memories of that popular set that released just last year, making this a dynamic duo likely to command a solid market price.

Darkrai is a massively underrated Pokémon with an almost equally underrated movie featuring him – Pokémon: The Rise of Darkrai. Part of the fun of collecting this card isn’t just hunting for one but two connecting card artworks. It’s reminiscent of the kind of mechanic that will make its return in Delta Reign in November.
Darkrai looks particularly fearsome in this illustration: much more like something out of a horror story than what you would expect of a Pokémon.
While neither Pokémon in this card are the most bankable characters, its original has a high market value. Historic value and the uniqueness of this artwork combine to make one of the more desirable chases of the set.

To cap things off, we have N. Like many of the cards featured in the 30th Celebration Classic Collection, this N Supporter card has a massive competitive legacy, being known as one of the strongest supporters of all time.
Many today will remember this card more for its iconic Pokémon trainer featured on its card art than its performance in the Pokémon TCG. The high market price of its original print shows that N’s legacy both as a character and as a dominant force in the meta has not been forgotten.
While it’s still very early days for 30th Celebration: Classic Collection sales data, these are my top choices for the set based on historic data from the original cards, and current market/popularity trends.
