The 10 Most Expensive Whispers in the Well Lorcana Cards
Whispers in the Well is a unique Lorcana set to say the least. With a darker twist in line with its title, it really does feel like Whispers in the Well is hinting at more for the game – more in the sense of unique mechanics, theming and even artwork. In this list of the 10 most expensive Whispers in the Well cards, we’ll be diving into the rarest and most valuable cards you can pursue as you simultaneously bling out your deck and hunt for the strongest and most gorgeous cards of them all.
#1 Ariel - Ethereal Voice (Iconic)
Listing price: $800+
Lorcana may be over two years old at this point, but it’s proven its staying power as a top TCG willing to continually innovate at every level in order to stay relevant. With Ariel we find many new things to celebrate. First, an intriguing interplay of light and dark that even resonates not only in the card artwork but in the lettering itself. Beyond that, however, is Ariel’s rarity itself: the relatively new Iconic rarity: something a step beyond the legendary “Enchanted” status that brings added challenge to pulling this gorgeous card. Of course, with that challenge and rarity also comes additional value, making Iconic cards the quintessential chase for hardened collectors.
Finally, there’s the card effect itself. While I doubt many will be so bold as to sleeve up an Iconic for play in their deck, it’s still interesting to note Ariel’s powerful collection of keyword and ability. Indeed, Ariel has a new keyword to the Lorcana game: one that should bring added depth and strategy by allowing you to place cards under her in order to unlock additional advantages.
Iconic is a fitting name for Ariel’s new card – a chase of epic proportions that shows just how much Lorcana has grown in its two short but memorable years of life.
#2 Hades - Looking for a Deal (Iconic)
Market price: $725
With the introduction of Whispers in the Well’s two Iconic Rare cards, we realize that the two rarest cards in a set don’t necessarily need to be thematically tied. Indeed, they can even feel juxtaposed. Unlike Mickey and Minnie from Fabled – the two Iconic Rare cards that felt like two sides of the same coin thematically – in Ariel and Hades we have two cards that look as different as they in fact are.
From the cool, purple coloring to counter the vibrant gold, to Hades status as a dastardly villain, the only thing that these two cards seem to have in common besides their 3/4 strength/will power numbers is the fact that both cards oddly enough have something to do with making a deal. I’m talking about lore wise here – Hades is literally “Looking for a Deal” as the card title suggests, whereas Ariel’s card may be hinting at the ill-informed deal she made with Ursula.
Additionally, both cards are Storyborn, adding additional thematic ties. However, collectors may care less about these similarities and contrasts than they do about their whopping pricetags.
#3 Cinderella - Dream Come True (Enchanted)
Market price: $325.40
While Cinderella - Dream Come True may be one of the best cards for players in Whispers in the Well, collectors will seek her out primarily for her beauty, rarity, and incredible value. Cinderella really is one of the most bankable characters for Lorcana, with her Enchanted prints frequently showing up at the top of most valuable Lorcana cards. However, this Cinderella brings added synergy to Princess decks, making her a worthwhile add to those looking to build around that specific classification.
#4 Demona – Scourge of the Wyvern Clan (Enchanted)
Market price: $249.99
Despite releasing well past Halloween, Whispers in the Well has an undeniable Halloween bent complete with a Headless Horseman and even Gargoyles. Indeed, Gargoyles are a huge draw for those diving into Whispers in the Well, offering both plenty of value at multiple rarity levels for collectors and insane power for players.
#5 Spooky Sight (Enchanted)
Market price: $229.97
Speaking of – it’s hard to get much spookier than “Spooky Sight” itself. I’m a huge Headless Horseman fan in any shape and form, and as such this card absolutely gives me the shivers. And while Spooky Sight’s effect may be somewhat niche (reminding me of an un-singable “Under the Sea”), its Enchanted artwork should appeal to anyone with a love for Halloween frights.
#6 Next Stop, Olympus (Enchanted)
Market price: $199.99
Hercules fans rejoice: here we have a card that plays into the whole “reward you for challenging” mechanic that’s been present in the Ruby ink color for a long time. While the effect of this card is decent (especially the fact that you can play it for free), it’s likely more the artwork/character popularity combo than playability driving this particular card’s value.
#7 Can’t Hold it Back Anymore (Enchanted)
Market price: $196.83
Whispers in the Well is such a gorgeous and intruging set that it can release what feels like an instant classic artwork like “Can’t Hold it Back Anymore” and still see it end up only towards the bottom of the top ten. Traditionally, Elsa alts have done very well in value to say the least, and that combined with this card’s really cool effect should make this one of the more bankable Enchanted song cards of them all.
#8 Goliath – Clan Leader (Enchanted)
Market price: $188.53
Of course Goliath had to be on this list. One of the most anticipated cards from the set is also one of the most valuable, boasting memorable artwork coupled with an insane 6/5 stat combo on a card that also forces your opponent to discard while enabling you to draw is pretty incredible to say the least. It’s very likely that excitement for this card’s competitive viability is helping drive this card’s value in addition to a general excitement for Gargoyles in general!
#9 The Headless Horseman – Terror of Sleepy Hallow
Market price: $172.72
And now for my personal favorite Enchanted from the set: The Headless Horseman himself! This card is just so amazing, picturing the legendary and truly iconic Headless Horseman in full fright, orange head aglow and all. His “Leaves No Trace” ability is a wonderful nod to his lore for his ability to eliminate meddlesome foes. Meanwhile this fully fleshed out tribute to America’s first ghost story should absolutely top any Halloween-lover’s list of chase cards.
#10 Webby Vanderquack - Junior Prospector (Enchanted)
Market price: $159.53
Last on this list but not without a decent market value is Webby Vanderquack – another card whose value is driven more by her playability than collectibility, no doubt. Competitively speaking, Webby brings powerful catchup potential to Emerald by enabling players to add incremental Ink to their Ink well. That coupled with Ward make Webby an indispensable card, and being able to shift for such a low cost can be helpful in certain situations, too.
