UNION ARENA: Complete Evangelion Card List

Evangelion is coming to UNION ARENA! Releasing on January 30, 2026, Evangelion is a seriously strong set featuring characters from the Evangelion Rebuild Theatrical release. Below, we’ll be taking a look at the complete Evangelion English card list, as well as looking at the products coming out with this highly anticipated set.

Evangelion card list quick links

Evangelion Yellow cards

Yellow gets an unusually small amount of cards for a UNION ARENA energy color, with essentially just one deck to play. While Yellow Evangelion is absolutely dominant in JP, given the zero-cost Asuka that was cut from the English version, we could see this deck get less play stateside.

Evangelion Purple cards

If I had to pick one energy color that was strong above all the rest in this set, it would be Purple Evangelion. First of all, Evangelion 13 just feels crazy. Damage 2 and Impact 4 just seems nuts, and it also has an insane and reusable draw engine built into it.

Meanwhile Asuka’s Evangelion is capable of a triple attack strategy that enables her to swing through your opponent’s defenses for maximum impact. Purple Evangelion is going to be strong and will likely have the highest play share of any UNION ARENA deck at high level competition.

Evangelion Red cards

Red Evangelion cards should be quite popular thanks to how easily they upgrade from the starter deck into a top tier UNION ARENA deck.

Evangelion AP cards

While there’s something to be said about all of the alternate art cards in Evangelion, the most startling to me at first glance in the Rei AP. Rei is really a tragic character in the anime – perhaps the most tragic of them all. Yet this card depicts her at her best, complete with a stellar foil design that will likely make this AP one of the top chases among all AP cards to date.

Evangelion Alt Art/Parallel Rare cards

SR** cards

SR** cards are among the rarest in UNION ARENA – second only to the SR*** chase cards. Evangelion SR** alts don’t disappoint and should be a satisfying chase for fans of the franchise – as well as quite valuable on the secondary card market.

Evangelion SR***

Evangelion SR***

The Evangelion SR*** will have both a regular SR*** and a serialized version – a card that will undoubtedly fetch a ton of money on the secondary card market.

Evangelion Foil Action Point cards

Evangelion Products

Evangelion is the first UNION ARENA set in the English version to get a starter deck since Rurouni Kenshin released back in November of 2025. The starter deck is built around the formidable red energy color featuring Shinji and Rei. Given early results from Japan, it’s likely that the red Evangelion starter deck will be up there with Red Kenshin as one of the best UNION ARENA starter decks of all time.

Evangelion Starter Deck cards

Red will likely be a very popular strategy coming out of Evangelion. Easily upgraded via the starter deck, Evangelion Test Type-01 is a powerful attacker, swinging at your opponent with a potential 7000 BP attack (beating most characters even when buffed by an Active trigger), complete with Damage 2 and Impact 1.

Evangelion starter deck alts

As usual, the Evangelion starter deck will include a pack of unique cards from other energy colors that can only be found in the pack. These cards are typically essential to building core decks, making them a must-have for players.

In addition to the exlusive cards, one of the four will be an alt art. You can see what these gorgeous alt arts featuring Rei, Asuka, Mari, and Kawaru look like below.

Evangelion Booster Box

Like all UNION ARENA booster boxes, the Evangelion booster box will come with 16 booster packs. It will also include one box topper pack which will have one of six foil common cards. See them below.

Evangelion Promo cards

Get the Asuka Winner card by competing at store tournaments, and the Rei release event card by attending and/or winning an Evangelion release event. Release events for Evangelion begin one week prior to release on January 23, 2026. Go on the Bandai TCG+ app to find one near you!

Evangelion Judge promo cards

Judge packs are given out to judges and contain a special “Judge” stamp on them. The promos available in these packs for Evangelion are all from the red energy color.

Bandai Card Fest promo

Lastly, this exclusive Evangelion promo can be gained by attending a Bandai Card Games Fest.

English Version cut cards

To maintain balance in the UNION ARENA English meta, UNION ARENA developers regularly cut cards from decks deemed too powerful in fear of these strategies overwhelming our generally balanced ecosystem. Two such cards were cut from the Evangelion English version of UNION ARENA, and they were the zero-cost Asuka from the Yellow deck, and the one-cost Mari from the Purple WILLE deck. See the above cards translated from Japanese to English via Exburst, and read more about the Evangelion cut cards impact on the set via my blog.
