UNION ARENA: Complete Sword Art Online Vol. 2 Card List

The second UNION ARENA: Sword Art Online set is by far the set I’ve been most hyped for of all. To celebrate the extra special set, we’ll be taking a deep dive into each and every Sword Art Online Vol. 2 card as they are officially revealed in English.

Sword Art Online Vol. 2 Purple cards

We’ll start with the newest energy color joining Sword Art Online: Purple. Purple also just so happens to be one of the strongest colors for the set, boasting the powerful Progressive/Asuna deck and the acclaimed Yuna deck.

Four-Cost Kirito (Progressive)

Four-cost Kirito is pretty solid. Complete with 4000 BP and damage 2 inherently, he’s going to be an insane asset to the purple Progressive deck. His only draw back is that he feels a little slow in comparison to some of the more contemporary 2 AP attackers due to his coming in resting when played as opposed to active. However, you can somewhat easily combine this Kirito with your Raid Asuna (more on that in a moment) to quickly switch him to active. Also, don’t forget that Kirito comes complete with a “When Played” that lets you play an Asuna character for free from your sideline, acting like a sort of two-for-one special.

Raid Asuna (Progressive)

Raid Asuna (Progressive)

Yes – another Asuna Raid! This makes for the fourth Asuna UNION ARENA Raid to date, and is also one of the best Asuna cards of them all. At only a four-cost, Asuna is coming in with 5000 BP and Impact the turn she is played. While that lets her swing through most of anything you’re likely to face down, it’s her “When Attacking” effect that really makes her special. Use this to combo into the 2 AP Kirito the very turn he is played, or simply to enable a multi attack strategy via one of the cards you have already attacked with.

The progressive films are all about Asuna, and so is the deck with this Raid being the backbone of your entire strategy.

Mito Raid targets

Mito

Mito is not only a key character in the Progressive films: she’s a key attacker in this deck. Here we have her one-cost and three-cost Raid targets. Both play into the Purple deck’s strategy of lowering opposing BP to unlock additional effects. The three-cost Mito, meanwhile, is a powerful tool that can prevent your opponent from blocking you.

Sword Art Online Vol. 2 Purple “Yuna” Cards

The Yuna deck is arguably the strongest deck coming out of Sword Art Online Vol. 2, centering on the powerful Yuna and her collection of song cards.

Yuna

Here we go! The legendary one-cost Yuna – the very card so strong an mighty that they had to ban it in the JP version of the game. Of course, Raid Yuna is core to the top tier Yuna deck, but it’s the one-cost Yuna that Bandai restricted in order to keep it from running rampant in the meta.

Essentially, using this effect with the yet to be revealed in English Ubiquitous dB song card, you can “fix” your deck to be arranged the way that’s most optimal for you, all while unlocking powerful searching effects. Three-cost raid Yuna isn’t exactly innocent in this combination, as her “When Played” let’s you bring that song event card back to your hand to recycle it all over again.

No official ruling has been released yet for the one-cost Yuna in the English version of the game. While many assume that a restriction limiting one-cost Yuna to just two copies per deck will be released when SAO Vol. 2 comes out, I’m taking a more optimistic route and hoping that we’ll get the full thing unrestricted to better combat the powerhouse Evangelion decks releasing on the very same day.

Yuna Song cards

Yuna Song cards

The Purple Yuna deck is all about song cards – an overt tie-in with the lore where Yuna’s pop status plays a vital role to the plot in Ordinal Scale. “Ubiquitous dB” and “longing” are both cards that help with draw and search, while “smile for you” is this deck’s special. While it doesn’t remove a character, it does let you bring the purple SAO Survivor Kirito (not yet revealed in English) back from the sideline and then you can play him for free. Not only does this unlock powerful, repeatable removal, it adds protection to Kirito to help him stick around a few turns.

Silica and Lisbeth

Silica and Lisbeth

While Silica feels essential to this deck’s strategy with the easy draw effect and two energy-gen, Lisbeth feels like a one-cost that’s nice to have but may not make it’s way into too many decks unless you’re looking for a generic 3000 BP attacker at low energy.

Sword Art Online Vol. 2 Yellow cards

Kirito, Eugeo, and Alice

Despite these cards being shared together, they are two cards from fundamentally different decks. The “Kirito & Eugeo” card adds consistency to the Alice & Friends deck while the Alice should fit into the upcoming Integrity Knights build.

Kirito

Kirito

Kirito is going to add a ton of value to the Integrity Knight/Alice and Friends strategy, enabling much needed additional draw, attack pressure, and a vital added Kirito named character the strategy desperately needs.

Leafa Earth Goddess

Leafa Earth Goddess

The Leafa Raid brings significant utility to the Yellow Goddess strategy, while also being the first card to be able to add life back to the life area.

Sword Art Online Vol. 2 Blue cards

Yui

Yui

Yui aims to add additional draw powers to the Blue ALO strategy featuring Leafa and Kirito.

Kirito

Blue SAO is the only SAO deck that felt really complete when the original set came out. As such, it gets the least added power in Vol. 2, with one of the new cards at its disposal being this two-cost Kirito capable of boosting your attackers to higher BP, enabling them to punch through your opponent’s defenses as you multi-attack your way (hopefully) to victory.

Sword Art Online Vol. 2 Green cards

Yuuki

This Yuuki Raid will add a huge amount of power to the Mother’s Rosario deck strategy. Being able to sideline any 4000 BP character without any other requirement is huge. And although Yuuki will sideline herself at the end of the attack phase, she will also let you play an Asuna character for free, meaning you don’t have to sacrifice too much board presence when using her. Not to mention the fact that she sidelines herself means adding two more Yuuki characters straight to your sideline count, helping you activate your stronger Asuna effects.

Sword Art Online Vol. 2 Action Point cards

Sword Art Online Vol. 2 box toppers

SAO Vol. 2 will include the standard lineup of foil common alt cards in box toppers. You can only get these inside your Sword Art Online Vol. 2 booster boxes.

Sword Art Online Vol. 2 Parallel Rares/Alt Arts

Apart from how strong the decks are in Sword Art Online Vol. 2, one of SAO’s main draws is how well its alternate art cards hold up in value. From this set, the top chase cards easily are the Asuna and Kirito SR*** cards.

SR*** cards

Featuring both characters with their looks from the Progressive films, the real chase here is the Asuna SR***. Asuna’s SR*** remains the most valuable UNION ARENA card, and I could see this new version of her fetching similar values on the secondary card market.

SR**

Bandai released the images for nine SR** signature cards several months ago, but they give us a solid understanding not only of what the top chase cards from this set are going to be but also what the top Sword Art Online Vol. 2 decks are going to be.

Progressive clearly is getting the most service here with four different SR** cards getting included for that deck type. And that makes sense given the Progressive films are the latest Sword Art Online arcs to get released as full-length films. A few other comments on these cards.

  • The endearing Yuuki SR** officially announces that we will be getting added support for the undervalued Mother’s Rosario deck.

  • The Yuna SR** is going to make hardened competitors happy as the Yuna deck strategy will likely be the strongest SAO deck following release.

  • My personal pick other than the Asuna SR** is the Leafa Goddess card – a much needed Raid to complete the Goddesses build.

  • Yui won’t likely do a ton for the ALO builds, but the Kirito Raid is going to make the Alice/Eugeo/Kirito deck much stronger.

Asuna SR**

Asuna SR**

For whatever reason, this gorgeous Asuna Goddess SR** card was omitted from the original list of alts shared on the SAO Vol. 2 product page. This lead me to a minor panic where I feared the two-cost yellow Asuna might have been cut from the English version entirely. That would have been a huge blow to the Yellow Goddesses deck that this card is vital to.

Luckily, that wasn’t the case and the powerful and gorgeous Asuna SR** card will be available in booster packs when the set releases.

Argo U*

Argo U*

I’ve seen both Progressive films more than once, and I don’t remember this scene from the movie being nearly as suggestive as this card art seems to be implying. Argo and Asuna are just having a good old fashioned practice sword fight by the pool. However, the card is admittedly pretty and I already have the Japanese version (hey…my friend brought it back from his vacation).

Yuna R*

Yuna R*

This alt of Yuna will be valuable thanks to its powerful competitive viability alone. She’s one of the strongest characters in the Purple Yuna deck and grants Damage 2 to any character on your field while also letting play a song card for free.

She’s not just one of the strongest cards in the Yuna strategy, she’s one of the strongest cards in all of SAO.

Sinon R*

Sinon R*

This Sinon alt should be worth a solid chunk of change. Not only is Sinon a popular character, this card adds significant power to the GGO deck.

Asuna U*

Asuna U*

Gaining a two energy-gen Asuna Raid target will be huge for the popular Blue Aincrad deck. Of course, the real value here is driven by one of anime’s favorite girls.

Yuna and Mito

Yuna

Here’s a photographic look at three different single star alt art cards from the set. All three look nice, but the Yuna and the Argo are perhaps the most exciting.

Yuuki U*

Yuuki

There are many beautiful alternate art cards in this set, but high up there on the list is this alternate art featuring both Asuna and Yuuki with their shared bond of friendship on full display. SAO Vol. 2 loves to depict multiple characters in a single card, even if the card is technically just named after a single character. I’m not complaining – sort of gives you two for the price of one!

Kirito, Eugeo, and Alice

Kirito, Eugeo, and Alice

While I doubt the Alice card will make her way into many SAO Yellow decks, Kirito and Eugeo will be a staple.

Asuna alt single * cards (Aincrad, ALO, Ordinal Scale)

Asuna alt single * cards (Aincrad, ALO, Ordinal Scale)

Sword Art Online has some of the best looking Asuna cards available. Above, we get her signature outfits from three iconic arcs: SAO, ALO, and Ordinal Scale.

All other alternate cards

Sword Art Online Vol. 2 Foil APs

As usual, Sword Art Online Vol. 2 will feature alternate foil AP cards that are quite rare. Given their rarity, (around one per case), these foil APs can end up being quite valuable.

Yuuki and Yui APs

Kirito and Goddesses APs

Goddesses AP

While both of these APs look cool, it’s the SAO Goddesses one that tops my charts for foil APs to chase.

Sword Art Online Vol. 2 Promos

Sword Art Online Vol. 2 Promo cards

We’ve been graced with an early look at one Sword Art Online promo that will be available in early 2026.

Store tournament winner card

This beautiful two-cost Asuna will be available as a winner card at store tournaments in early 2026. Hailing from the Progressive deck, this Asuna card is pretty handy, letting you draw a card just by playing her while also acting as a Raid target for your Raid Asuna.

Store tournament participation and Judge cards

The Asuna store tournament winner card looks just as gorgeous in person as it does here – I won my first Progressive Asuna Winner card after taking first place at one of the first UNION ARENA tournaments of 2026. But it’s not the only incentive for SAO fans attending official UNION ARENA store tournaments this season. You will also get an alt art Mito card from the Progressive deck as well, and judges can get two gorgeous foil cards – one featuring Asuna and the other featuring Kirito.

Release event promo and winner card

Asuna lovers will be glad to know that there are plenty of Asuna cards to collect once SAO Vol. 2 comes out. Not only can you hunt for the gorgeous Asuna alts and cards in the booster pack, and the winner at the store tournament, you can also take part in the release event and bag the Asuna release event participation promo and/or winner card if you come home with the win!

I absolutely love Sword Art Online and am extremely excited about this set. As such, I’ll be reviewing each and every card that gets revealed by Bandai as they come out. So bookmark this page and make sure to check it out often as the spoilers will keep streaming in!
