Base Set Pikachu Reprint Revealed for Pokémon TCG 30th Celebration
What Classic Collection cards are you hoping for most out of Pokémon TCG: 30th Celebration?
The Classic Collection is a special subset of cards that can be pulled from 30th Celebration booster packs. Only, unlike the main set and secret rare cards, they won’t have a typical set number. Instead, each card is a reprint of a classic Pokémon card from a past set.
Some are reprints from long, long ago, like the Pikachu card revealed today.
This fuzzy, slightly chunky Pikachu is a reprint of the first-ever Pikachu card from Pokémon TCG’s legendary Base Set. However, it does have a few distinct differences from the original. For starters, you’ll notice the big Pikachu 30 stamp: proof that this card is part of the upcoming 30th Celebration set releasing on September 16, 2026. Like the other Classic Collection cards revealed so far, this Pikachu also has the special gold foil border.
Not all “Classic Collection” cards are necessarily vintage. As you can see in the gallery above, Magikarp Illustration Rare is getting a reprint in Pokémon 30th Celebration, and this card was released as recently as 2023.
Yet many are vintage classics, like this freshly confirmed Base Set Pikachu reprint, the Lugia from Aquapolis, and others.
This isn’t the first Base Set Pikachu reprint
As exciting as getting a reprint of an iconic card like the Base Set Pikachu is, it’s hardly the first time this card has been reprinted.
Just five years ago, Pikachu got a few reprints. For example, Celebrations included a full art version of the Base Set Pikachu card. While not technically a “reprint” as the card was numbered differently, it still contained the same vintage Pikachu art from the franchise’s earliest days.
In the same set, a more direct reprint was given to this Pikachu card, albeit on a metal-plated card.

This metal Pikachu card was included in the now-coveted Celebrations Ultra Premium Collection, along with a metal Charizard reprint.
Other reprints of the original Pikachu card exist. However, this Pikachu from 30th Celebration will likely be among the most well-remembered, as well as decently valuable when the set fully releases.
