The latest Pokémon TCG Pocket set delivers some gorgeous cards, and many of them are worthy of the chase.
Below are my top picks for the most desirable, beautiful and exciting cards from the limited-time set that will be available starting September 30, 2026.
#10 Charmeleon – Illustration Rare
Deluxe Pack Mega has several Charizard chase cards, and multiple gorgeous Illustration Rare cards. This Charmeleon is sort of both of these. Even though it’s arguably the least iconic of the Charizard evolution line, similar Illustration Rare cards for Charmeleon have seen a lot of demand when released in sets like Pokémon 151 (among others).
This isn’t the best artwork we’ve seen of the forgotten middle-child. But it’s still exciting enough and obtainable enough to give many a reasonable card to chase.
#9 Baxcalibur – Illustration Rare
While it may be easy to overlook most Baxcalibur cards that come out, you just can’t look away from this one. This artwork is stunning. It perfectly captures what it feels like to be caught in the snow in the middle of the forest on a bright winter day. And the artist capable of capturing such striking beauty is none other than the rising star, Kazuki Minami. Minami is known for winning the 2024 Pokémon Illustration contest with a very memorable Pikachu, as well as for illustrating the gorgeous Mega Rayquaza ex Special Illustration Rare that is the top chase card in the upcoming Delta Reign.
If Minami keeps swinging this hard with future artworks, Shinji Kanda could have some competition before long. Regardless, with artwork like this, Minami is clearly a rising star among Pokémon TCG artists.
#8 Shiny Dedenne ex
Dedenne is like a smaller, cuter, and yet massively less recognizable Pikachu. It’s one of the more memorable Pokémon from the X&Y era of the Pokémon anime where it accompanied Bonnie as a friend rather than as a Pokémon partner (Bonnie was too young to have one). I can see fans getting pretty excited at the prospect of shiny hunting for this cutie.
#7 Elesa
Deluxe Pack Mega gets several notable full art Supporter cards, but of them Elesa is likely to be the most sought after. She remains a popular trainer for her style, personality, and fierceness in battle. It’s a potent combination that’s hard to forget – no matter how many Pokémon generations go by.
#6 Dratini – Illustration Rare
The Illustration Rare cards from this set are pretty on point, with Dratini being among the better ones. It doesn’t hurt that this unassuming Dragon evolves into one of the more well-known Dragon-types of all time.
Here, though, that almost doesn’t matter. The artist is instead drawing you into this much smaller little world of the Basic Dragon-type. It works incredibly well, and makes for an exciting – albeit lesser – chase.
#5 Mega Charizard Y ex – Special Art
Mega Charizard Y may not have the same allure as the Dragon-type Mega Charizard X ex, but the colors here do this Pokémon plenty of favors, and it’s still a beloved Pokémon simply for being a Charizard Mega.
#4 Mega Gengar ex – Special Art
I say it about Gengar cards a lot, but Gengar has emerged as one of the more exciting and bankable Pokémon. Cards from recent generations that feature one of Pokémon’s original and most memorable Ghost-types tend to do well. More than that, however, Gengar has been an absolute force to be reckoned with in the current Pokémon TCG era for collectors, making its inclusion here a no-brainer.
#3 Eevee – Illustration Rare
Deluxe Pack Mega may be filled to the brim with excellent chase cards. However, it’s this Eevee that steals the show for me.
Pressed up against the window, it’s quietly mesmerized by the jewelry it sees through the window. It reminds me instantly of Serena’s Eevee from Kalos that would eventually evolve into a Sylveon.
While it’s hard to get an Eevee card wrong, this is one of the more adorable ones we’ve seen lately.
#2 Mega Rayquaza ex – Special Art
In this penultimate chase, Pocket pays homage to the sky king that’s poised to have a big year. Already it’s made an impact in Japan’s Storm Emeralda set and Pocket’s Ruler of the Skies. It will close out the year for the Pokémon TCG with Delta Reign. And it’s included as a Special Art in this Deluxe Pack with an illustration that will make countless collectors wish they could get it IRL.
#1 Mega Charizard X ex – Immersive Art
I know I’m probably being a little unoriginal putting Mega Charizard X ex at the top of the list. But it’s not just because I have an affinity for this Pokémon: it’s that this is one of the more captivating Charizard X ex cards we’ve seen – physical or digital.
Pokémon artist DOM is known for exciting illustrations, but this card’s artwork takes things to another level, somehow managing to make Mega Charizard X ex look at once like a street mural and like the raging draconic beast that it is.
This Immersive Art card isn’t hyped only for its fresh take on the mega-iconic Pokémon: it’s also in the way that the animation ties it together with the rest of the Mega Pokémon featured in this set.
