Mega Malamar ex Revealed for Delta Reign – Along with a Sneaky Sableye Combo
Things are heating up on all fronts for Pokémon TCG, including for the still relatively far away Pokémon TCG: Mega Evolution – Delta Reign set releasing on November 6, 2026. Just today, the latest Mega Pokémon was spoiled for the Rayquaza-themed set: Mega Malamar ex. The card was reveal as part of Storm Emeralda – the Japanese equivalent of our upcoming Delta Reign – which is seeing its full release on July 31, 2026.

Darkness - HP320
Stage 1 - Evolves from Inkay
[D][D] Psychic Marionettes: 70x damage. This attack deals 70 damage times the number of Benched Pokémon your opponent has.
[D][D][D] Eerie Pulse: 200 damage. Leave your opponent's Active Pokémon Confused.
Mega Pokémon ex rule: If your Mega Pokémon ex is Knocked Out, your opponent claims 3 Prize cards.
Weakness: Grass (x2) Resistance: None Retreat: 2
While Mega Malamar ex will likely face a tough time competing in the Pokémon TCG when the set launches given its weakness against Grass-type Pokémon (which currently are among the most dominant decks in the game), it’s still got a pretty solid attack. For just two Darkness Energy, Mega Malamar ex is doing 70 damage for each of your opponent’s benched Pokémon. That scales to a truly incredible 350 damage, capable of taking out Mega Pokémon ex in a single hit.
Sableye and Inkay also revealed
Malamar evolves from Inkay, so of course this set’s Inkay would also be spoiled alongside the new Mega. But another card that works seamlessly with this evolution line was also revealed today: Sableye.

Darkness - HP60 Basic Pokémon
[D] Knock Off: 10 damage. Choose a random card from your opponent's hand and discard it.
Weakness: Grass (x2) Resistance: None Retreat: 1
While Inkay is a vanilla Evolution target, the Sableye has some added synergy that could work well in a deck centered on Mega Malamar ex.

Darkness - HP80
Basic Pokémon [
D] Lure Out: Look at the top 5 cards of your opponent's deck. You may select any number of Basic Pokémon you find there and place them onto their Bench. Your opponent then shuffles the remaining cards into their deck.
[D][C] Sinister Eyes: Place 5 damage counters on 1 of your opponent's Pokémon.
Weakness: Grass (x2) Resistance: None Retreat: 1
Sableye lets you search your opponent’s deck and forcibly add Pokémon you find there to their bench. Not only is this an excellent way to mess up your opponent’s board setup, it supports Mega Malamar ex’s main attack.
Meanwhile, Sinister Eyes is a solid option for closing out the game: place five damage counters on low HP Pokémon on your opponent’s bench or knock out weakened Pokémon.
