Pokémon Pocket Celebrates 30th Anniversary with ‘Dual Fusion’, Kanto Starters, and Pika Pika Missions
Pokémon TCG Pocket’s next set is Dual Fusion set to release on October 29, 2026, and it’s bringing back several familiar faces – including three gorgeous new cards featuring the original Kanto starter evolutions Venusaur, Blastoise, and Charizard.
While these Illustration Rare cards catch my eye right away, there’s much more to the Dual Fusion set, including the debut of dual-type Pokémon cards, as well as an emphasis on Mega Mewtwo X ex.
Dual-type cards – like the Mega Greninja and Mega Mewtwo ex above – were originally announced back at Pokémon Worlds 2026 in San Francisco. While they’re a brand new mechanic for Pokémon TCG Pocket, they’re not new to the TCG overall. The 2004 Pokémon pack, EX Team Magma vs Team Aqua, is considered the first set to ever feature dual-type Pokémon.
