Purple Sesshomaru Deck List and Guide
Looking for a strong Purple Sesshomaru Inuyasha deck to start with?
Purple Sesshomaru is a deck with a ton of potential. While its higher energy cost for what it delivers arguably limits its ceiling, many will love its combination of free-play, offensive prowess, and fun.
Purple Sesshomaru deck quick start guide
Early game, prioritize your Sesshomaru Raid target while also focusing on building up to six energy.
Use A-Un to take early game swings at your opponent without sacrificing your energy line.
Strategically fill your sideline with characters so that you can free-play them via abilities later. Especially prioritize Rin.
Use free-plays to fill your board with lower-cost characters, and use Rin to switch your Damage 2 Sesshomaru to active.

There are three critical objectives you are going to want to achieve while setting up your game plan early on.
Build up your board to six energy
Arguably the most important thing to prioritize early on is to build up your board with energy. If you don’t hit your higher energy thresholds, your strongest plays won’t be possible.
However, you still can get some early game swings in. This is especially made possible thanks to the fabulous A-Un character.

A-Un – like other characters that achieve a similar effect like Bakko from Kaiju No. 8 or three-cost Saito from the Kenshins set – makes it easier for high energy decks to build up to their stronger characters without sacrificing presence on the front line.
Using A-Un is a great way to achieve your energy curve while fielding attackers and defenders.
Fuel your sideline
The other thing you’ll want to do is to focus on getting low-cost characters into your sideline. You’ll be using these characters later to unlock powerful effects, as well as just to free-play characters and swarm your opponent. The most important character to get into the sideline is Rin.

Rin plays a vital role in this deck, especially when paired with two AP-cost Sesshomaru.

Free-play the Rin, switch Sesshomaru to active, and you’re swinging at your opponent with Damage 2.
Setup Raid targets for Sesshomaru
Lastly, you’ll need to ensure that you have the right Raid targets on your field to play your biggest character: six-cost Sesshomaru.

This should be fairly easy to achieve given the sheer number of Sesshomaru characters you have to Raid over.
Kagura is a powerful tech option
While the core of this deck is to flood the board with free-plays, and combine this swarm strategy with your heavy hitting Sesshomaru characters, you do have an interesting tech option in the form of Kagura.

Kagura unlocks yet another free-play effect. Having that baked into a 4000 BP character in a deck like this one that thrives on bringing characters back from the sideline is a powerful play. While the character that you bring back in this way will be sidelined at the end of the main phase, that won’t matter much.
You can use this to bring back Rin and activate the standing effect, bring back one of your low-cost search or draw characters, or even a Sesshomaru Raid target. The latter is a solid move, too, as Raiding over the character removes the “will be sidelined” effect from Kagura.
Sesshomaru strengths and weaknesses
The biggest weakness for Sesshomaru and the main thing that will likely keep this deck out of the top tier of the UNION ARENA meta is Sesshomaru’s high energy cost relative to his abilities.
Getting to six energy is a tall order – relatively speaking. And when you get into that range, you’re suddenly looking at characters that can do A LOT to justify the high energy cost. And while six-cost Sesshomaru is indeed strong, it’s in the same energy range as a Saito, or a Sinon, or many other characters that have much more deadly effects than being a 5000 BP Impact 1 character with a free-play.
If Raid Sesshomaru was just one energy-cost less, and same for the Damage 2 Sesshomaru, I could see this deck being a lot more threatening. As it is, most players will look towards stronger decks with more removal and power than a swarm deck that needs high energy to pull off.
Still, this deck has enough free-play mechanics built-in to make it an upper-tier deck. If you love filling the board with characters, and building up to heavy attackers, then you’ll love this Purple Inuyasha deck.
