Rayquaza Takes to the Skies in New Pokémon TCG Pocket Trailer

Pokémon TCG Pocket: Ruler of the Skies is right around the corner – releasing on July 29, 2026 – and already we’ve been granted our first look at a few cards from the set, including the formidable Mega Rayquaza ex.

Darkrai may have owned the beginning of the month for the Pokémon TCG, but as we head into the final days of the month things are turning decidedly towards Rayquaza.

Not only has Pokémon revealed the first glimpses of the Pokémon TCG Pocket expansion, Ruler of the Skies, but more is certainly to come as Japan’s Storm Emeralda releases next week – granting us a look at what will be the remainder of the cards for our very own Delta Reign that will be coming out in November.

So while I’m mostly excited about the spoilers that should be rolling in soon for Delta Reign, Ruler of the Skies does give us a little taste of what’s to come in the first Rayquaza set since the legendary Evolving Skies.

While the trailer understandably puts emphasis on the cards themselves, my favorite moment might be when the camera takes us up into the clouds and lands on a fearsome-looking Mega Rayquaza. I feel like I’m on a ride or something at this point, as Rayquaza’s shadowy form materializes among the clouds before lighting up in all its glory.

Pokémon Pocket fans, however, are going to be much more excited about the cards revealed. Several of them have materialized, just like the Rayquaza, with the most exciting being Mega Rayquaza ex itself.

Pokémon gave us a glimpse at this card when the releases of both Delta Reign and Ruler of the Skies were originally teased. Now we get to see it in all its glory for the first time.

A handful of other cards were revealed in the video, including several alternate art cards, with the most gorgeous being the Dragonair, keeping with the dragon theming of the set.
