Slowpoke 30th Celebration Card Recreates a Memorable Moment from Gold/Silver
What’s better than a Pokémon TCG: Slowpoke card reveal? How about a Slowpoke card reveal that recreates a memorable scene from the Gold/Silver Pokémon Video Games?
The newly revealed Slowpoke features the very well from Azalea Town – a town located within the Johto region famous for its Slowpoke.
While the world of Pokémon is filled with plenty of unique and quirky towns, Azalea may be up there as one of the quirkiest: townspeople here actually keep Slowpoke as pets.
It’s a town legend that a Slowpoke from the well ended the drought that had once caused a lot of hardship for Azalea. As such, Slowpoke now enjoy a special status.
Fuecoco ex, Marill, and Kangaskhan also revealed
While the Slowpoke card may have the most history of the cards revealed today, it’s not the only spoiler we’re getting. Fuecoco ex, Marill, and Kangaskhan 30th Celebration cards were also confirmed via the official Pokémon TCG X account.
While Marill and Kangaskhan feel relatively tame, Fuecoco ex is actually pretty interesting, with a Cheerful Flame attack that scales damage for each Prize Card you have taken. While early on in the battle this won’t help too much, five Prize cards in you’re swinging for a pretty impressive 350 damage, which is a lot for a Basic attacker.
Little Easter Eggs like these are part of the fun of Pokémon 30th Celebration. Whether it’s allusions to early cards, forgotten pieces of Video Game lore, or even an homage to some of Pokémon’s earliest artists, Pokémon 30th has a little something for everyone.
