The 7 Most Expensive Sword Art Online Vol. 2 Cards
With the release of Sword Art Online Vol. 2, Sword Art Online really does have a better claim than ever to the title of best UNION ARENA set. It’s now got more top chase cards and more top decks than any other set. While SAO Vol. 1 was very solid with the highest average singles sale price of any UA set to date, Vol. 2 brings incredible additional value to the SAO IP within the UNION ARENA universe. Below, we’ll be looking at the top chase cards from this phenomenal set.
#1 Asuna SR***
Listing Price: $1500
Here is my personal chase from the set – one that I have not yet bagged – the Asuna SR*** wearing her gorgeous outfit from the Progressive films. I’ve not seen any confirmed sales data on this card – probably because those who pull it and are willing to sell it know how special this gorgeous card is. To date, the Asuna SR*** from SAO’s first set is the most expensive of the non-serialized SR*** cards. Of the two, I prefer this one, with its resplendent color pallete casting an irresistible shadow over even the glory of the original UA Asuna chase.
#2 Kirito SR***
Listing price: $1000
Kirito’s SR*** looks great but is likely a distant second top chase to Asuna’s SR***. We don’t know yet how much this particular card is worth, but it should still be a decent amount given Kirito is the hero of SAO.
#3 Yuna – SR**
Market price: $400
This gorgeous Yuna card is worth a very impressive amount for an SR, putting it within the range of a lesser SR*** card. This follows the pattern we’ve seen in recent sets that essentially sees one SR** Waifu chase card fetch top dollar well ahead of the others from its rarity. Yuna is SAO Vol. 2’s chase of that kind, likely driven by her popularity, competitive viability, and the fact that there is no SR*** for her as there is for the SR** Asuna, raising her in price as the rarest Yuna card in the game.
#4 Asuna (Stacia, the Goddess of Creation) – R**
Market price: $294
In fourth place we have Asuna in her goddess form. This card being worth so much is really not a surprise now that I’m seeing it. Yellow Goddesses is a phenomenally popular deck, as is Goddess Asuna in general. If we had gotten an SR*** Goddess Asuna…that would have also had some insane value. As it is, many Goddesses fans will love putting this card on their shelf.
#5 Yuuki SR**
Listing price: $864+
I think Yuuki will end up being a top chase from the set despite the fact we don’t have any proven market data on this card to draw from. That alone might be an indicator that this card is a sleeper chase, however, as buyers and sellers struggle to find a middle ground in what to pay for it.
Yuuki is a tragically beautiful character inside and out, and that pathos could end up translating to top tier market value when the dust settles. Right now, asking prices for this card are tellingly high.
#6 Kirito SR**
Market price: $275
Kirito looks really cool in this card, and I love seeing his card ending up so high on this list. This particular artwork hails from the Alicization arc, that moment right at the end where he takes on the toughest bad guy he’s faced down in the show until that point. Arguably, Kirito at peak power in the Alicization/Underworld arc is him at peak power, period. Having a card that demonstrates that – complete with his Night Sky Blade and Blue Rose Sword – is pretty iconically SAO.
#7 Asuna – SR**
Market price: $268
Asuna’s SR** may be the lesser rarity of her card – the SR*** casts a long shadow over this card as well as the rest of SAO – but her Asuna SR** is still very valuable. I would love to bag this particular card but might wait until it’s a little more affordable. Actually, there are several reasons why the Asuna SR** is so top tier to me. First, I love the Purple Progressive deck. If I pulled this card I would find it extremely tempting to sleeve it up in my deck and play it competitively despite its rarity. Second, the Progressive look is one of my favorite of Asuna’s outfits. Either way, this is a top-notch chase card even if it is slightly overshadowed by the SR***.
