The Strongest Sword Art Online UNION ARENA Cards, Ranked

Sword Art Online is my favorite UNION ARENA set to date (and that's saying a lot as there have been so many good ones). I won't admit how many hours I've spent testing decks against myself and with friends, but after all the testing these are the cards that stand out to me the most

#7 Unlimited Landscape Manipulation Ability

Landscape Manipulation is an easy card to overlook but groundbreaking nonetheless. Sure, it acts as a great resting tool while also enabling you to mess with your opponent’s field and poke holes in their defenses and energy line. However, the real uniqueness of this card is the fact that it lets you sideline a site in play – the first of its kind to do so. This has a few powerful use cases in the meta, especially against Blue Sukuna, Green Saitama, and more.

#6 Eugeo – Synthesis Thirty-Two

Eugeo is a pretty solid character. He’s got Nullify Impact and Impact when Raided. That’s enough to include him in your Yellow deck regardless of the build. In the Integrity Knights deck, however, Eugeo becomes even more helpful, granting additional BP and Nullify Impact to up to two more characters on your field.

He’s a pretty unique card and makes for a solid supporting attacker in your Yellow SAO build.

#5 Kirito – Aincrad (Starter Deck)

The Blue Aincrad deck is one of the most popular to come out in UNION ARENA’s SAO set. Its strongest card is arguably this Kirito. He may not be loaded up in keywords, but he has an effect that lets him switch with Asuna on your energy line while also acting as an additional switching card each turn. He’s the backbone of the Blue Aincrad deck and deserves a spot on this list.

#4 Leafa – Earth Goddess Terraria

Leafa is a pretty wild card. While you’re going to have to take one of your own life to use her effect, if you do she boosts to 6000 BP and can’t be chosen by anything your opponent throws at you outside of Snipe. As if that weren’t enough, she’s got Nullify Impact, helping you protect yourself against your foes late in the game when life is running low.

Not only does she have insane stickiness for a UNION ARENA character, she’s one of the only counters out there to the powerful two-AP Green Saitama. Play her the turn before he comes out and your opponent can’t remove her and essentially renders Saitama’s powerful “one punch” useless.

#3 Sinon (GGO)

A lot of players who build the GGO deck will undoubtedly make the mistake of thinking seven-cost Kirito is the strongest card in its deck. However, the real star of the show is definitely six-cost Sinon. Also worth mentioning is the three-cost Sinon with the Green Color Trigger. Together, these two are very, very strong, unlocking Snipe and Impact.

Another card worth mentioning is the Photon Sword. While that card is too dependent on Sinon to be considered a top card on its own merits, play that card and you can seriously up the value you gain through your Sinon plays.

#2 Yuuki

Mother’s Rosario is such a bad deck it’s fairly easy to overlook this actually quite strong card. Remove the Color Trigger and suddenly Yuuki is a must add to any Green SAO deck. Her collection of abilities makes her one of the strongest cards in the game, period, with her only major draw back being she is sidelined at the start of the turn, making her a must-block card capable of forcing attackers to resting much the same as the popular Nanami character.

The fact that Mother’s Rosario lands itself solidly in the tier-three sphere of decks only goes to show how poor that strategy is even with having a powerful card like this at its disposal.

#1 Asuna, Stacia Goddess of Creation

The Yellow Goddess Deck is undoubtedly one of the strongest in the entire Sword Art Online set. However, that deck wouldn’t be nearly as powerful without its best card: the formidable Asuna, Stacia Goddess of Creation card.

Asuna forces characters to resting, swaps them, and locks them down, preventing them from moving the following turn.

We’ve not yet seen a card like this in UNION ARENA. It’s a very powerful mechanic that works against just about anything you’re going to come across, especially the popular Yellow Saitama.
