This Kagurabachi UNION ARENA Card Sold for Nearly $2000
The internet is freaking out over one new, valuable card that just released in the latest UNION ARENA English set – Kagurabachi.
Currently available in packs (though rare), this insane UNION ARENA chase card is fetching a price online that would even make the likes of Pokemon TCG jealous, with a confirmed sale for well over $1700 via my partners at TCGPlayer.
I shared news of this epic chase card to my X account and it’s been blowing up with tens of thousands of views from Kagurabachi and TCG fans ecstatic about this insane price tag.
Typically, UNION ARENA cards only fetch this much when they are serialized cards – hyper rare versions of the SR*** rarity with only 100 of them in print. I know just as well as anyone the extreme adrenaline rush of pulling a serialized UNION ARENA card as I pulled one over a year ago when the first Demon Slayer UNION ARENA set released.
Serialized cards can often sell for $1700 or more because of their extreme rarity, but it’s unheard of for a non serialized SR*** to sell for this kind of dough until Kagurabachi came around. Now, this SR*** Chihiro is the most expensive SR*** in the UNION ARENA English version – and it’s not even close.
Kagurabachi doesn’t even have an anime yet
You don’t have to be detective to know that Kagurabachi is a pretty hyped IP. However, it’s not even an anime yet – being UNION ARENA’s first manga-based set. It has such a loyal fanbase however that the manga was popular enough alone to launch a UNION ARENA set, and the results speak for themselves.
Indeed, I was at Bandai Card Fest in Vegas on Valentine’s Day and of all the sneak peeks I shared via my early entry into the building, the UNION ARENA Kagurabachi Playmat garnered the biggest reaction on social media.
Both Kagurabachi and TCG fans feel hungry for this set – a fact which is partly to thank for driving this SR*** to unprecedented value.
UNION ARENA popularity is skyrocketing with upcoming sets
I don’t think this trend is going to stop with Kagurabachi, however. UNION ARENA, as a whole, is picking up a ton of steam in North America. While already huge in Japan, recent sets like NIKKE, Demon Slayer Vol. 2, Evangelion, Sword Art Online Vol. 2 as well as the latest and greatest Kagurabachi set have been putting out cards that have been fetching massive amounts on the secondary card market.
All of that may be coalescing in Kagurabachi’s SR***, but signs are there for perhaps even bigger things to come when Solo Leveling releases next month. Already cases are selling for well above usual online via TCGPlayer – with the most recent sale being for over $2000!
Of course, collectors have an added incentive to purchase Solo Leveling UNION ARENA products as this set is special in more than a few ways. For starters, it’s an English-first set release – the first time such a set has come out in English for the North American market ahead of Japan. Furthermore, the signature rare SR** cards and above are signed by the English anime voice cast – another first in the game.
Beyond all of this, however, might be the most hyped new card you can get: actual signed Action Point cards – a never before card type included in a UNION ARENA English set.
Up until now, UNION ARENA has felt like something of a well-kept secret. It’s got a devoted player base in North America with regionals selling out in minutes, as well as some of the best art in card games on top of the biggest IPs in anime. With news of Kagurabachi’s SR*** fetching nearly $2000 on the secondary card market and the massive hype we’re seeing for upcoming sets like Solo Leveling, however, it finally starts to feel like – after more than a year-and-a-half since it launched – the secret is finally out.
