Weiß Schwarz Online is getting a Switch 2 edition, and with it a bunch of special cards to entice players to purchase the “Complete Edition.” The game will be releasing on March 24, 2027, and will be available in both Japanese and English, with Spanish, Korean, and Simplified Chinese also available.
To celebrate, Kadokowa is running a special collaboration that includes two exclusive clear card promos, one with Asun and the other with Kirito as a bonus when you purchase via their online store.
The cards feature Kirito in his Black Swordsman outfit and Asuna in her elegant Goddess look from the Underworld War arc. Additionally, they are depicted holding Weiß Schwarz trading cards – a handy bit of self-promotion from the game that’s released eight Sword Art Online card sets to date.
Two more alternate art Sword Art Online promos will be included in the Weiß Schwarz Complete Edition, along with unique promos from many other titles.
Could UNION ARENA get a Switch game?
While both Weiß Schwarz and Sword Art Online fans have something to be excited about here, many of my readers who follow my UNION ARENA updates will be wondering: could we ever get a UNION ARENA game from Bandai?
While Bandai did launch a dedicated digital client for Dragon Ball Super Card Game Fusion World, they haven't given their other massive TCGs the same treatment yet. And while UNION ARENA is the closest competitor to Weiß Schwarz – even outperforming the legacy anime crossover game in Q3 of 2026 where it made top 10 TCGs overall – it’s unlikely an official video game version will materialize.
After all, Bandai currently has several card games that are even bigger than UNION ARENA. And while UNION ARENA is growing in popularity and has a devoted player base, chances that it would get a client like this ahead of One Piece, Gundam, or even the upcoming Naruto Card Game are highly unlikely.
Still, a UNION ARENA fan can dream!
