Is Shaymin VSTAR Good?
In the upcoming Pokemon TCG Expansion, Brilliant Stars, Shaymin is one of the mascots. But is its new card, Shaymin VSTAR, any good? While it may not make for a powerful attacker all on its own, Shaymin VSTAR can act as a powerful secondary attacker. This is especially true when you combine it with Leafeon VMAX.
Combine Shaymin VSTAR with Leafeon VMAX
While the Leafeon VMAX archetype has already gotten a powerful buff in the form of Leafeon VSTAR, another powerful addition to Leafeon’s deck comes in the form of Shaymin VSTAR.
Up until now, one of Leafeon’s biggest weaknesses is that it doesn’t have a strong finishing move. Sure, if you can get Leafeon VMAX up and running early game and take some knockouts before your opponent does, you are golden. But in the late game matchup, Leafeon VMAX can suffer. However, that changes thanks to Shaymin VSTAR
Shaymin VSTAR Makes Your Opponents Pay for Taking Prizes
Unlike Leafeon VMAX who, previous to Brilliant Stars, couldn’t OHKO Pokemon VMAX, Shaymin VSTAR has no trouble pulling this off late game. If your opponent has taken four prize cards, Shaymin can come around and snatch up a victory by doing 280 damage. If you are really on your last legs, that damage bumps up to 320. Of course, if you combine Choice Belt with this attack, you are OHKOing any Pokemon in the Standard Format.
Shaymin VSTAR Also Heals
Shaymin VSTAR also acts as a great get-out-of-jail-free card thanks to its VSTAR ability. That ability allows you to heal 120 damage from each and every one of your grass-type Pokemon. This could massively set your opponent back while saving your Leafeons from getting knocked out.
Choice Belt is a Powerful Addition to Your Shaymin VSTAR/Leafeon VMAX Tool Belt
Choice Belt is probably one of the best cards to come out of Brilliant Stars, and it’s a powerful addition to your Shaymin VSTAR/Leafeon VMAX deck list. Not only can it help Shaymin OHKO in a pinch, it can also help Leafeon VMAX pull off knockouts in unfavorable matchups. Specifically, it massively helps raise the effectiveness of Max Leaf.
With Choice Belt, Max Leaf can OHKO Pokemon V with no retreat cost, such as Mew V, and Jolteon V.
Look out for Shaymin VSTAR to play a big role in making Leafeon VMAX an even more competitively viable deck in a post Brilliant Stars world.
