Pikachu spoilers are dominating this week for the upcoming Pokémon TCG: 30th Celebration releasing worldwide on September 16, 2026. Today marks the official reveal of a particularly noteworthy member of the 30 special “firework” foil Pikachu cards we’ll be getting when the set releases: Shinji Kanda’s Pikachu.
Significant for its artist’s iconic design style, Shinji’s Pikachu will likely be among the most sought after. After all, Shinji is one of the Pokémon TCG’s most bankable artists. Some of the most iconic and expensive Pokémon TCG cards of the modern era have been designed by this fan favorite artist.
Take for example, the beloved Giratina V from Sword and Shield – Lost Origin: a card currently pushing nearly $1000 on the secondary card market.

Shinji cards are known for punching way above their weight
Another thing that makes this artist quite unique: Shinji’s creations do well no matter the rarity of the card they are printed on. While plenty of highly rare cards are worth money, Shinji cards are known for defying the odds – often collecting top dollar for lesser rarity cards that typically wouldn’t have such high value.
Shinji’s Illustration Rare cards are particularly top-notch, with the semi-legendary Magikarp fetching insane amounts, as well as even more recent favorites like the Seismitoad.
