Paldean Fates Premium Collection – is it Worth It?

The Scarlet & Violet Paldean Fates Premium Collection is now available. There are three different ones you can choose from: Meowscarada ex, Skeledirge ex and Quaquaval ex, but all of them contain mostly the same stuff. In this review, we’ll be taking a look at what you can get from the Paldean Fates Premium Collection, showing some of our sweet pulls, and asking the question: is it worth it?

Paldean Fates Premium Collection – what’s inside?

The best thing about this product is that it comes with eight booster packs. That alone gives it a strong value – it would cost similar amount to purchase those eight packs as it would to purchase the Premium Collection. Of course, you aren’t just getting the packs – you’re also getting three promo cards, a jumbo promo card, and handy display case.

All of those things together makes answering the next question pretty eays.

Is the Paldean Fates Premium Collection worth it?

Yes. Easily. If you purchase the Premium Collection from TCGplayer at market value, you are getting a really good value for what you are paying.

What stands out about the Premium Collection?

One thing I was surprised about this product was how solid and sturdy it felt once I held the packaging. That’s probably partly beacause of the display case that comes with it. But it felt really dense and hefty– like Pokemon was packing as much product into the packaging as they could manage.

That in itself is noteworthy because often trading card products are fluffed up a bit, containing more empty space than actual card products or accessories.

The magnetic display case has pros and cons

When I got gifted this product for Valentine’s Day, I actually was not aware of the magnetic display case included. I was pretty excited when I saw it though, as the Charizard ex Premium Collection had a really neat display case that I still have in my office.

While at first this display case looked to be of similar if not greater value, there was one major downside – the base.

While the display case itself looks great, the base that the product packaging boasts of is little more than the same kind of cheap plastic material that the product itself comes in. In fact, I missed the base at first and had to read the box over again because it looked so similar to the rest of the packaging.

A cheap base detracts from what otherwise would be a cool display case

What rare pulls did we get?

I love Paldean Fates. It’s an incredible special set with an awesome pull rate. And the Premium Collection we opened did not dissapoint. Virtually every pack had something cool in it. And while you can see our three rarest pulls above (including the Clive Special Illustration Rare), we also managed to pull a few additional goodies which you can see below.

Paldean Fates Premium Collection Verdict

The Paldean Fates Premium Collection is a solid product that’s totally worth picking up for either you or a loved one as a gift. While the cheap base is a definite score against (and one hopefully Pokemon will rectify in future products), it contains one of the best Pokemon packs to buy right now, and plenty of additional value to excite any serious Pokemon TCG collector.

And while I have a lot to say about the display base, it does work despite looking cheap. Meanwhile, the magnetic display case itself looks really cool and feels durable. It’s a fantastic and affordable way to display some of your favorite Paldean Fates chase cards.
