New Mega Pokemon ex join the fray in Perfect Order

While the Mega Clefable and Mega Starmie ex cards have been confirmed to be part of the set, we have been granted a first look at the mighty Mega Zygarde ex card which plays a huge role in Perfect Order. In addition to the three confirmed Mega Pokemon ex cards, we could also be getting a yet-to-be-confirmed Mega Skarmory ex card that is included in Perfect Order’s Japanese sister set, Nihil Zero.

Mega Zygarde ex

Mega Zygarde ex

Mega Zygarde is perhaps the biggest Pokemon name coming to the game in Perfect Order. And its card looks nuts. If I’m reading it correctly, the insane Nullifying Zero attack seems to be capable of knocking out your opponent’s entire board of Pokemon at once – dealing 150 damage to each Pokemon for each heads you get (flipping a coin for each Pokemon on your opponent’s bench and in the Active spot).

While coin flip-based attacks are always a bit risky, the chance to pull a blanket knockout like this might just be enticing enough for players to actually attempt it.

Playability aside, Zygarde is an important Pokemon within the lore. It plays a huge role in the excellent Pokemon: XYZ anime, and its Mega form was only recently introduced into the Pokemon World with the Pokemon Legends: Z-A game. All of that combined with its unique gameplay mechanic could make for a very, very in-demand special illustration rare chase card assuming we get one when the set releases in English.

Mega Skarmory ex

Mega Skarmory ex

I have a ton of fond memories of Mega Skarmory ex, especially trying to catch it near Mount Chimney in Pokemon Ruby. Of course, that wasn’t a Mega Skarmory – a new Mega form making its Pokemon TCG debut in Perfect Order. Mega Skarmory is pretty strong, too. With 260 HP and an attack that can snipe any of your opponent’s Pokemon for 220 damage make Mega Skarmory ex a handy attacker in the right situation.

Mega Clefable ex

Mega Clefable ex

While Mega Clefable ex was teased in the original Perfect Order reveal, we now have confirmation of this card in English. Mega Clefable ex gets major points for being the Mega form of a Kanto Pokemon. I’m not seeing a huge synergy here competitively although Luminous Wing is a solid counter to one-hit-knock-out decks like Mega Absol ex that like to cheat out a KO with attack effects.

No, that’s not going to work into Clefable – you’ll have to knock this Mega Pokemon out the old fashioned way.

New Pokemon ex in Perfect Order

Meowth ex

Meowth ex

Meowth ex is already making waves online especially amongst competitive Pokemon TCG players who see its “Last-Ditch Catch” as a potentially disruptive mechanic for the Pokemon TCG game. Supporter Trainer cards are among the strongest cards in the Pokemon TCG, and being able to use Meowth ex to search out any Supporter card from your deck grants a particularly strong edge to many decks. While “Tuck Tail” isn’t a particularly strong attack offensively, it does provide a solid way to remove Meowth ex from your bench where it otherwise is something of a liability (granting two relatively easy prizes to get when it is knocked out).

We haven’t had a card with this ability in the game since the days of Lumineon V – a card that saw huge play amongst a variety of decks. Meowth ex could add considerable viability especially to basic Pokemon decks that don’t have the bandwidth to evolve into higher evolution consistency cards like Pidgeot ex for example.

Meowth ex could also make for a solid chase for collectors who either harbor a special fondness for the mischievous Meowth character, for Pokemon from the original generation, or maybe a little bit of both – especially if this card ends up getting an SIR version in this set.

Lapras ex

Lapras ex

Lapras doesn’t look like a card that will be considered seriously for competitive play. Yet Lapras is still a much loved original 151 Pokemon, making it fun to get it in this set – especially if we end up having an alternate art for it in this set or in the future.

Decidueye ex

Decidueye ex

Perfect Order shows that even in the Mega Evolution era of the Pokemon TCG, it’s not just about the Megas. Case-and-point – this Decidueye ex. Decidueye ex has a powerful collection of tools that could make it a powerhouse deck in its own right. First, Sniper’s eye lets you easily reduce the energy cost for Crushing Arrow – a powerful attack that looks to disadvantage your foe by discarding their energies while also dishing out 240 damage.

Perfect Order single prize Pokemon

While the new Mega Pokemon ex and Pokemon ex may be the most exciting additions to the game, we’ve been given a sneak peek at the first single prize Pokemon included in Perfect Order courtesy of the Pokemon TCG UK official X account.

Shaymin

Shaymin

Shaymin’s “Send Flowers” attack is actually stronger than it might at first appear – letting you search your deck for even a special energy like the recently revealed Growing Energy that grants additional HP.

Serperior

Serperior

Scatterbug

Scatterbug

Talonflame

Talonflame

Sky Hunt may not be a serious enough of an ability to warrant running this Stage 2 Pokemon in your deck, but it’s still a neat mechanic that could be fun in control decks.

Dewgong

Dewgong

Dewgong has a compelling ability called Wash Out that lets you easily move water energy around to different Pokemon. This feels like a very handy ability that could bring a lot of flexibility to decks that specialize in water decks.

Shinx

Shinx

Luxray

Luxray

This Luxray is very compelling for a single prize attacker. Incessant Onslaught could be a very powerful late game closer, letting you hit an insane damage threshold for just two energy on a single prizer. Meanwhile, Strong Volt is no slouch, easily swinging for 200 damage.

Dedenne

Dedenne

I hope we get an Illustration Rare version of this Dedenne card as this Pokemon is just so quintessentially Kalos.

Clefairy

Clefairy

Espurr

Espurr

Espurr fits in perfectly with the general Kalos-centric nature of this set. Believe it or not, Espurr’s evolution, Meowstic, does Mega Evolve – could we be getting a Mega Meowstic in the Pokemon TCG sometime soon?

Hippowdon

Hippowdon

Hippowdon has a solid mill attack thanks to Twister, one that pairs with Tarragon to devastate your opponent’s resources – not their board.

Landorus

Landorus

Diggersby

Diggersby

This Diggersby’s Earthquake attack is pretty impressive for a single prize stage 1 Pokemon, doing damage to the active and 30 to each benched Pokemon. This could be an interesting tech for damage spread decks like Froslass and Marnie’s Grimmsnarl ex.

Perfect Order Trainer cards

Our first official Supporter card from this upcoming set has been officially revealed in English.

Tarragon

Tarragon

Ever since Hippowdon was spoiled in English, I was curious about what Tarragon does. Now that we see him, this card is slightly underwhelming. It’s sort of cool to get the fighting energies and Pokemon back to hand from the discard pile, but overall the synergy doesn’t seem super strong yet besides being an interesting tech for fighting type decks.

Perfect Order Special Energy cards

In addition to all of the new Pokemon cards in this set, Perfect Order will bring powerful new Special Energy cards into the Pokemon TCG. See which new Special Energy cards have been revealed so far, including a special Grass energy card that further buffs grass type decks.

Perfect Order Secret Rare cards

Secret Rare cards are the alternate rare cards that go beyond the main set. While not many have been revealed yet, we have had a look at our first secret rare alternate art card from Perfect Order.

Lumiose City – Ultra Rare

Lumiose City – Ultra Rare

I love this Lumiose city card simply for this: it depicts Prism Tower which is the heart of the Paris-based Lumiose city. It’s not only an iconic remnant of its time – it perfectly symbolizes the current era of the Pokemon TCG that’s all about Kalos.

Mega Zygarde ex – Ultra Rare

Mega Starmie ex – Ultra Rare

Mega Starmie ex – Ultra Rare

Here’s our first look at Mega Starmie! This Pokemon has been tearing up the competitive scene in Japan and will likely do the same thing stateside, making it a top chase card specifically for competitors.

Clefairy – Illustration Rare

Clefairy – Illustration Rare

Despite this card being rarer than the SIRs, this artwork is probably my favorite from the whole set. And I’m guessing many will feel the same way as me – a fact which could launch it to the top of the charts despite it’s comparative rarity.\

Aurorus – Illustration Rare

Aurorus – Illustration Rare

The Pokemon Influencer who got this spoiler wept when she saw it. Other than that, it has some nice winter effects at play in its art.

Rowlet – Illustration Rare

Rowlet – Illustration Rare

Fans of the Decidueye deck that’s coming out in Perfect Order might be especially happy to see this hyper cute Rowlet alternate art in one of their packs.

Mega Zygarde ex – Special Illustration Rare

Mega Zygarde ex SIR

This Mega Zygarde ex SIR will be one of the top Perfect Order chase cards. And I can see why. Not only is Zygarde a very important Pokemon to the Kalos region, getting a new Mega form for it in the latest Pokemon video game adds a lot of excitement to this card – not to mention all of its various forms portrayed behind it the same as Mega Dragonite SIR and Mega Charizard X SIR.

Meowth ex – Special Illustration Rare

Meowth ex – Special Illustration Rare

Whereas the Mega Zygarde ex looks to inspire awe with its action and swirl of color effects, this Meowth ex SIR is decidedly domestic, being pictured here surrounded by a bunch of nice food. As I said in my original announcement for Perfect Order’s first revealed English SIRs, this artwork would look perfectly at home in my local Panera.

Rosa’s Encouragement – Special Illustration Rare

Rosa’s Encouragement – Special Illustration Rare

I’m loving the 1950’s vibe this card is going for. It’s an artwork about ice cream that would look perfectly at home in an old fashioned chocolate shop.

Perfect Order promo cards

We’ve had an early look at more than one promo card coming out with Perfect Order.

Perfect Order Elite Trainer Box Promo

Tyrunt

First up is this very exciting Tyrunt Pokemon card which can be found in the Perfect Order ETB. I’ve had a love for Tyrunt ever since watching the Pokemon XY anime series that features the Pokemon Region that Tyrunt originates from: Kalos. Of course, Tyrunt bears significance for this reason, as the Mega Evolution era is highly based on the Kalos region where the latest Pokemon Legends: Z-A game takes place.

It’s always exciting to get an early look at upcoming ETB promos as they often feature unique artwork, and this Tyrunt is no exception. And while the majority of ETB promos may not be worth a ton, sometimes these promo cards end up being worth a decent amount, like in the case of the highly popular Snorlax ETB promo we got back in the Pokemon 151 set.

Above is pictures two different versions of the Tyrunt promo – one which will be available in the standard ETB you’ll find at local game shops and big box stores as well as the Pokemon Center exclusive promo bearing the stamp which can only be found in Pokemon Center Elite Trainer Boxes sold directly from the Pokemon Center and its online store.

Perfect Order Blister promos

While less exciting than the Tyrunt promo card, we have also had an early look at two different promo cards that will be getting released as part of the typical blister pack promo run. These promos feature a serene Chikorita which should be a popular option for players playing the upcoming Mega Meganium ex deck

Makuhita promo

Makuhita promo

You can also get a neat Makuhita promo with artwork that was originally released in Japanese as a gym promo and now available in English!

Prerelease promos

Prerelease promos are always an exciting group of cards to get released with any main Pokemon TCG set, and these four from Perfect Order do not dissapoint. Learn more about each of these promo cards and how they will fare in the Prerelease format via my Perfect Order Prerelease guide.

Store exclusive promos

Eager to get your hands on more promos with that intriguing Perfect Order stamp? Well lucky for you you can! Select stores are giving out special stamped promos when you purchase $15 or more of Pokemon TCG products.

Gengar will be available at GameStop, while Aurorus will be at Barnes & Noble and Hot Topic. Luxray can be found at Best Buy.

Perfect Order product lineup

The Perfect Order product lineup has also been revealed. While I wrote about these products in depth in an earlier article, you can find each and every product revealed so far below.

Perfect Order artworks

Lastly, Pokemon has released several artworks that perfectly capture the theme of this set – each focused on one of the three confirmed Mega Pokemon making their Pokemon TCG debut in Perfect Order. Oh, and there’s also one for Meowth, too.

While Perfect Order has big shoes to fill following on the heels of the extraordinary Ascended Heroes special set releasing throughout 2026, its focus on core Mega Pokemon ex and gameplay mechanics should present a broad appeal to both collectors and players, making it a strong way to start the main set releases this year. I’ll be making more updates to this page as new card reveals are made in English so again – bookmark this page and make sure to check back often!
