And here it is: the holy grail chase card of all Delta Reign! And honestly, I’m a little underwhelmed. Not by the artwork. Newcomer Kazuki Minami (who won the 2024 Pokémon Card Illustration Contest) does a fabulous job in depicting Mega Rayquaza in all its celestial brilliance. Instead, what I’m underwhelmed by is the card’s price.

Traditionally, Rayquaza is a highly bankable Pokémon, reliably collecting high value when it gets printed on a card. That combined with this card’s artistry would not have made me think this card would go for less than $500 in the set’s early days.

Still, at its current market price it’s likely the most valuable from the set, as well as among the more valuable chase cards of all from the current era.

Earlier in 2026, momentum was largely behind Special Illustration Rare (SIR) cards versus their rarer Mega Hyper Rare versions. However, recent sets like Chaos Rising are showing the gap is lessening. While I doubt this Gold Mega Rayquaza ex will be worth more than the gorgeous SIR in the long run, the two could be worth similar amounts.

#3 Raikou ex – Special Illustration Rare

As if it weren’t enough to get a gorgeous, majestic, Mega Evolved Dragon-type Pokémon as this set’s frontrunner, we’re also getting one of the Three Legendary Beasts, originally from Johto.

Raikou ex’s artwork certainly fits the set’s theming. Its desolate background evokes the kind of scenery you might find powerful legendary Pokémon prowling. That combined with the Pokémon’s nostalgia factor and you have a solid secondary chase in the form of Raikou ex.

Zinnia’s Trust Special Illustration Rare is off to a great start on the secondary market, especially for an SIR Trainer card. Thematically, this trainer basically had to be in the set, as Zinnia is bound to Rayquaza in the lore. Indeed, many of the most iconic Rayquaza cards in recent memory – ranging from Trainer Gallery cards in Silver Tempest to insane alt arts from Evolving Skies – include her alongside one of the most memorable Pokémon of all time.

With that in mind, it seems fitting that we would get an SIR of her card in this set. And as far as SIR Trainer cards go, this is easily one of my favorites. Everything from the determination on her face to the composition of the artwork itself, and even the realistic clouds setting stage for this stormy set in the background adds life and weight to this card.

Mega Golurk ex Special Illustration Rare is faring decently on the secondary market right now. But honestly, I wouldn’t expect it to stay even at its current modest market price for long. Golurk just isn’t that well-loved of a Pokémon. While it does have an excellent showing in the Pokémon Movie featuring Volcanion (from the Kalos era of the anime), otherwise it’s clearly an SIR destined for the B-string.

Still a pull to be excited about based on rarity alone, however.

#6 Eevee – Illustration Rare

This Eevee Illustration Rare (IR) may actually be my favorite chase from the set. Originally released in Japan-exclusive Eevee Starter Set, this card wowed fans when it was originally revealed that it would be included in our Delta Reign set.

In this artwork, Eevee is seen preparing for an adventure. It has a lunch, a map, compass, and a trainer’s hat next to it. The way it is looking up at you from the card makes you feel like you yourself are this cute Pokémon’s trainer.

In essence, it encapsulates one of the things that I’ve always loved most about Pokémon ever since I was a child: the incredible sense and excitement for adventure it evokes.

#7 Groudon – Illustration Rare

This Groudon Illustration Rare drew a lot of attention ever since it was first revealed ahead of Storm Emeralda in Japan (the set on which the majority of Delta Reign is based). It drew instant comparisons to the other relatively recent Groudon Illustration Rare released during the Scarlet and Violet era in the cult hit, Paradox Rift.

That Groudon is one of the early chase Illustration Rare cards to fetch top chase card prices from a set. Will this Groudon be as legendary as the one from Paradox Rift? It’s impossible to know for sure right now, but it’s initial price is better than the other Groudon’s was upon release. So that’s something.

#8 Mega Golisopod ex – Special Illustration Rare

Golisopod is another Pokémon that’s unlikely to turn any card into a blockbuster, must-have chase. However, this Pokémon isn’t without its own fair share of lore, and those particularly well acquainted with Gen VII will appreciate this Mega form of the “cowardly” Pokémon more than the rest of us.

That being said, the broader TCG market won’t likely be as well acquainted with the deep lore, making this card a more niche chase. Still, its impressive artwork and rarity lend it some decent value.

#9 Kecleon – Illustration Rare

Kecleon Illustration Rare is easily this set’s most “colorful” Pokémon, both thanks to the Pokémon’s type-shifting shenanigans, the card illustration’s luscious palette, as well as the Pokémon’s own attack: Colorful Whip. Online, however, this card is known by another name (one that I won’t utter in good company). A little bit of meme never hurt a card’s value, however, and with all of that combined this Kecleon IR could be a sleeper chase for the set. Indeed, it already has a solid confirmed market value.

#10 Growlithe – Illustration Rare

Never count a Gen I Pokémon out! Growlithe benefits from the same nostalgia factor that drives dollar amounts around many Kanto Pokémon cards. It doesn’t hurt that this card is also particularly cute, with Growlithe eagerly awaiting your return home. It’s not a runaway chase, but a solid addition to any collection.

Overall, Delta Reign has a satisfying array of top chase cards to collect. While Mega Rayquaza ex SIR’s market price is much softer than I expected, that does fit the general cooling in the Pokémon TCG market post 30th Celebration. That being said, it’s happened plenty before that a set like this one comes out, fetches modest prices, only to later become much, much more valuable. Of all the sets released in 2026, I would put Delta Reign right up there with Ascended Heroes as one that will be most likely to appreciate well over time – even if the prices are likely to drop pretty brutally in the short term.

Also, I have to mention the one chase card that should have been a top chase but that was cut from the list: Mega Rayquaza ex Ultra Rare.

Mega Rayquaza ex Promo

That card easily would have made it into the top 10 had it not been removed from November’s set to be featured in a special tournament collection releasing in February of next year.

And again, while these prices may be a little underwhelming, the good news is that after release day when prices have settled likely even further down, Delta Reign products will likewise presumably decrease, making it a high-value set to pick up going into the holidays: one that you won’t have to pay an arm and a leg for, even on the secondary market!
