The Most Expensive Chaos Rising Pokemon Cards

What will the top chase cards from Chaos Rising be?

Releasing everywhere on May 22, 2026, Chaos Rising has already had a ton of hype online with early leaked images of Mega Greninja making a huge splash online. However, with the release of its Japanese sister set, Ninja Spinner, just days away, all of the hype and rumors have finally been confirmed! This will be another huge set for the Mega Evolution era of the Pokemon TCG – one with absolute bangers like Ascended Heroes already under its belt.

But what will take the cake for most expensive chase cards of them all in Chaos Rising? Below, let’s look at what are likely to be the hottest cards from the set based on what we know so far!

#1 Mega Greninja ex – Special Illustration Rare is the top chase card in Chaos Rising

Without a doubt, the defining chase card for Chaos Rising will be this gorgeous Mega Greninja ex SIR. I’ve been seeing this card art surfacing for a while in the Poke-web as an English version of this card was unfortunately leaked well before it was meant to. But now those rumors have essentially been confirmed by this alt art. And what a chase it is!

For those who don’t know, Greninja is a big, big deal. And Mega Greninja is an even bigger deal. Yet it’s a Mega Evolution with quite a bit of lore behind it. In the original anime, Greninja would only Mega Evolve via a special bond with Ash. With the release of Pokemon Legends Z-A, however, Greninja finally got its own Mega Form outside of the Ash’s Greninja Mega Evolution.

Now, this iconically “Kalos” Pokemon can be pulled from Chaos Rising packs (well…once the set releases in May), and fans are going to go nuts.

But just how much will this epic chase card actually be worth on the secondary card market? While we never know for sure, it likely will be a solidly valuable card. The most recent SIR Greninja card we got was back in Twilight Masquerade. That card is still valuable today – just under the $300 mark. My guess? Mega Greninja will be worth much more, and could even end up as valuable as the Mega Gengar ex from Ascended Heroes. Although my more conservative estimate would be around $600 on the secondary card market once the dust settles.

Connected art could raise the value of Frokie and Frogadier

Before moving on to the next card on this list, I also do have to highlight the two cards with connecting art to Mega Greninja – the Froakie Illustration Rare and the Frogadier Illustration Rare. We haven’t seen a connected art this clean since Mega Venusaur ex came out in Mega Evolution. While the connectedness may not be enough to launch the two IRs to the absolute top, it certainly won’t hurt their value as collectors will undoubtedly want to complete the set!

#2 Mega Greninja ex – Mega Hyper Rare

#2 Mega Greninja ex – Mega Hyper Rare

As usual, we’ll be getting one card in Chaos Rising that’s far more rare and yet less valuable than the SIR. Mega Hyper Rare cards have notoriously bad pull rates, yet getting one will nap you some serious cash should you choose to flip it. While the Mega Hyper Rare cards rarely end up more valuable than the top SIR from the set, they’re still typically worth hundreds of dollars. With how iconic Mega Greninja is and how unique Mega Hyper Rare cards are, I could see this being one chase that holds up in the long run.

#3 Cinccino ex

#3 Cinccino ex

From the early looks of the Ninja Spinner card lineup, I wouldn’t be surprised to see Chaos Rising have the Phantasmal Flames effect on card values. What I mean by that is the top chase card from Phantasmal Flames was so overwhelmingly hot that everything else in that set seemed to pale in comparison, resulting in some relatively low value for otherwise gorgeous cards.

Chaos Rising feels like it’s going to be going all-in on the bankable Greninja, and as such many of its secondary hits could end up dropping pretty low in market value – think $20-$30 for an SIR.

Putting that fear aside, I’m feeling pretty strongly about this Cinccino ex alt simply for its cuteness factor. That could edge it out in value above the other Mega Pokemon that we’ll get to in a moment. My guess is that this card will be worth around $50 when the set drops.

#4 Mega Greninja ex – Ultra Rare

In that same vein, this Mega Greninja ex is likely to end up one of the top chase cards from the set despite being only an Ultra Rare card. It’s still epic looking with that super cool “upside-down” ninja pose that is so unique to Greninja’s Mega form. The Mega Charizard X ex from Phantasmal Flames saw similar outsized value given how much emphasis was put on the show-runner for that set, and we’ll likely see the same kind of thing echoed in Chaos Rising.

#5 Mega Floette – Special Illustration Rare

While early pictures don’t paint the absolute best picture, I do like the way this artwork seems to paint such a start contrast between the relatively harmless looking Floette and its apocalyptic weapon seen blocking out the sun overhead. In any other set this card could be a pretty big chase. In Chaos Rising – assuming it follows the same pattern we’ve discussed – it could end up being a lesser money card – somewhere in that $30 range.

#6 Mega Dragalge ex – Special Illustration Rare

Mega Dragalge ex

Dragalge feels like a second string Pokemon for sure – it’s not got the popularity of a bankable Pokemon like Rayquaza. Yet it’s still a dragon type – a typing which certainly won’t hurt its chances at being a top chase. While the above image makes it hard to see this card fully (we’ll have better images soon), what you can see is still gripping. Inside this card lives a world of color and activity – one that adds to the story the artist is conveying.

It’s a shame that in comparison to the much more known Greninja, this card will likely get overlooked, putting it in that lesser card value bucket (for an SIR).

#7 AZ’s Tranquility – Special Illustration Rare

#7 AZ’s Tranquility

Next up is a card that’s something of a deep cut for Pokemon Kalos lore lovers. While AZ’s Tranquility won’t benefit much from nostalgia tax like many other supporters do, it’s cool seeing Pokemon weave its latest and greatest game and characters into the Pokemon TCG – especially when it’s done in such an emotional and visually captivating way as this.

#8 Roxie’s Performance – Special Illustration Rare

Coming back to more familiar territory for long-time Pokemon fans, the last card on this list features a punk rock gym leader, Roxie. While not exactly the poster child for Unova, fans of that era of Pokemon will get a little something extra from pulling this rocking chase fresh from a pack. As far as SIRs go, she won’t be among the most valuable. Even more well-known Supporters SIRs like Dawn from Phantasmal Flames only fetch modest sums. But it’s still cool to see how Pokemon mixes up the variety of cards and characters in modern sets.

#9 Xerneas Illustration Rare could be Chaos Rising’s sleeper chase

Xerneas

And now for that part of the chase card predictions article where we talk about the top chase card people won’t see coming. As I’ve highlighted in previous chase card lists (like when I covered the sleeper IR chase from Ascended Heroes), there’s often one IR that outperforms its rarity to make it to the higher rungs of value in a set. We’ve seen pretty frequently how a very hot IR can rise up to being worth hundreds even on the secondary card market if hype is high enough.

While I doubt this gorgeous Xerneas card will get that kind of hype, it’s the top IR chase revealed from the set, featuring a memorable Kalos Pokemon that fits the theme, painted in a decidedly mid-1900s animation kind-of-way.

So far, Chaos Rising is decidedly living up to the hype. This set will be another huge one for the Pokemon TCG – and with still more secret rare cards yet to be seen, I’ll be continuing to update this article with more cards as they get spoiled! So check back often as we continue to explore everything that Pokemon’s 30th year has to offer!
