The 12 Most Expensive Chaos Rising Pokémon Cards
Wondering what the top chase cards from Mega Evolution: Chaos Rising are?
Released on May 22, 2026, Chaos Rising met a ton of early hype online even before the official release day thanks to early leaked images of Mega Greninja ex. Fans quickly decided Chaos Rising would be a “Mega Greninja ex” or bust set – much in the same vein as how Phantasmal Flames derives much of its value from its top chase card.
Yet, Chaos Rising isn’t only about Mega Greninja. Several other chase cards stand out for their curb appeal and beauty. And lucky for us, early sales data is already available for these highly rare and desirable cards. Below, we’ll be looking at each of the most expensive cards from Chaos Rising, as well as sharing their live market prices that are updated daily!
#1 Mega Greninja ex – Special Illustration Rare is the top chase card in Chaos Rising

Without a doubt, the defining chase card for Chaos Rising is this gorgeous Mega Greninja ex Special Illustration Rare (SIR). For those who don’t know, Greninja is a big deal within the Pokémon world. Besides Pikachu, Greninja is Ash’s main partner in the anime, and it only recently got an official Mega form apart from the unique “Ash’s Greninja.” In the original anime, Greninja would only Mega Evolve via its special bond with Ash. With the release of Pokémon Legends Z-A, however, Greninja finally got its own Mega Form outside of the Ash’s Greninja Mega Evolution.
Now, this iconically “Kalos” Pokemon can be pulled from Chaos Rising packs, and as you can see from its live market price above, it’s already worth a big amount.
#2 Mega Greninja ex – Mega Hyper Rare

As usual, we’ll be getting one card in Chaos Rising that’s far rarer and yet less valuable than the leading SIR. Mega Hyper Rare cards have notoriously bad pull rates, yet getting one will nab you some serious cash should you choose to flip it (or a decent bump in your portfolio should you keep it). While the Mega Hyper Rare cards rarely end up more valuable than the top SIR from the set, they’re still typically worth hundreds of dollars. With how iconic Mega Greninja is and how unique Mega Hyper Rare cards are, I could see this being one chase that holds up in value in the long run. Early market trends are already depicting a very favorable value for this top chase.
#3 Cinccino ex – Special Illustration Rare

As discussed, I wouldn’t be surprised to see Chaos Rising have the Phantasmal Flames effect on card values. What I mean by that is the top chase card from Phantasmal Flames was so overwhelmingly hot that everything else in that set seemed to pale in comparison, resulting in lower values for otherwise gorgeous cards.
Right now, however, the Chaos Rising SIRs are actually fairly valuable. And as predicted, Cinccino ex leads the pack, no doubt thanks to its particularly eye-catching artwork and the cuteness factor.
Of course it’s still very early in the release cycle for this set. We’ll have to keep monitoring the prices over release weekend to see if any cards take a rapid plummet. But with many products already rolling out and getting ripped, secondary chase cards fetching over $100 is not a bad look for a set largely being hunted for that white whale Greninja chase.
#4 Mega Dragalge ex – Special Illustration Rare

Dragalge feels like a second string chse for sure. It’s not got the popularity of a bankable Pokémon like Rayquaza. Yet it’s still a dragon type with a gripping and dramatic artwork. Inside this card lives a world of color and activity – one that adds to the story the artist is conveying. I particularly like the way the leafy, reefy patterns match this Pokémon’s original inspiration: the Leafy Seadragon. Its beauty – and the fact that it hails from Kalos where Mega Pokémon originate – is undoubtedly what’s launching this card towards the top end of value for the set.
#5 AZ's Tranquility – Special Illustration Rare

Next up is a card that’s something of a deep cut for Pokemon Kalos lore lovers. While AZ’s Tranquility won’t benefit much from nostalgia tax like many other supporters do, it’s cool seeing Pokemon weave its latest and greatest game characters into the Pokemon TCG – especially when it’s done in such an emotional and visually captivating way as this.
I’m a little surprised to see this card’s early market value trending so high. We’ll have to wait and see where things land but landing at number five on this list is an impressive feat for any Supporter – let alone one with more niche appeal like this.
#6 Mega Floette – Special Illustration Rare

I do like the way this artwork paints such a stark contrast between the relatively harmless looking Floette and its apocalyptic weapon seen blocking out the sun overhead. Floette is huge deal in the Legends Z-A lore. And while that may not earn it the same kind of cash as a nostalgia favorite can (we’ve seen this same dichotomy in Perfect Order where Meowth ex SIR outperformed the more contemporary Mega Zygarde ex), it’s market value still trending decently well for a second-tier chase card.
#7 Roxie’s Performance – Special Illustration Rare

Coming back to more familiar territory for long-time Pokemon fans, the last card on this list features a punk rock gym leader, Roxie. While not exactly the poster child for Unova, fans of that era of Pokemon will get a little something extra from pulling this rocking chase fresh from a pack. As far as SIRs go, she won’t be among the most valuable. Even more well-known Supporter SIRs like Dawn from Phantasmal Flames only fetch modest sums once a set has been out for a while. But it’s still cool to see how Pokemon mixes up the variety of cards and characters in modern sets.
#8 Mega Greninja ex – Ultra Rare

Following the bankable Pokémon vein, this Mega Greninja ex is likely to end up in the top 10 most expensive Chaos Rising cards despite being only an Ultra Rare. It’s still epic looking with that super cool “upside-down” ninja pose that is so unique to Greninja’s Mega form. The Mega Charizard X ex from Phantasmal Flames saw similar outsized value given how much emphasis was put on the show-runner for that set, and we’ll likely see the same kind of thing echoed in Chaos Rising.
#9 Froakie – Illustration Rare

Froakie isn’t just a memorable Pokémon from the Kalos region known for its independent spirit – it’s a beautiful artwork that gains additional value for its cuteness and interconnectedness with the top chase card: Mega Greninja ex SIR. Just as we saw with the Illustration Rare cards for Bulbasaur, Ivysaur, and Venusaur when Mega Evolution debuted, each of Greninja’s evolution line features a piece to a three-part interconnected artwork.
Interconnected artworks drive Pokémon TCG fans wild – adding extra value to each of the cards as collectors will undoubtedly be hungry to collect the set.
#10 Ampharos – Illustration Rare

We already had one form of Ampharos spoiled for the set when the promo card was revealed for the Build and Battle Box. However, this artwork is noticeably more serene than its promo counterpart, making it a strong contender for the 10 cards from the set, and easily within the top 20 most valuable alt art/secret rares from Chaos Rising. What makes me say that? Apart from a decently trending price for the Japanese version of the card, this Johto-original Pokémon is pictured alongside the exact kind of pastoral setting (complemented by eye-popping colors) that tends to do relatively well on the secondary card market. Not to mention it’s already doing well in Japan as part of the Japanese Ninja Spinner sister set.
#11 Xerneas – Illustration Rare

Xerneas - 091/086

And now for that part of the chase card article where we talk about the top chase card people won’t see coming. As I’ve highlighted in previous chase card lists (like when I covered the sleeper IR chase from Ascended Heroes), there’s often one IR that outperforms its rarity to make it to the higher rungs of value in a set. We’ve seen pretty frequently how a very hot IR can rise up to being worth hundreds even on the secondary card market if hype is high enough.
While I doubt this gorgeous Xerneas card will get that kind of hype, it’s one of the top IR chase cards revealed from the set, featuring a memorable Kalos Pokemon that fits the theme, painted in a decidedly mid-1900s animation kind-of-way.
#12 Frogadier – Illustration Rare

Frogadier - 089/086

Last but not least is this Frogadier IR! If you don’t know, Frogadier is the middle evolution for Greninja, and as such gets some decent value for being the connecting piece between the Froakie IR and the Mega Greninja ex SIR. While Stage 1 Pokémon typically get overlooked (and perform less well) compared to the basics and fuly evolved forms, this Frogadier card still shows it belongs in contention for this list. The swirl of colors behind its bold and defiant pose are visually captivating, making the card stand strong on its own merits while still getting that clear boost from its interconnectedness with the puzzle.
So far, Chaos Rising is decidedly living up to the hype. However, market prices are prone to fluctuation, so expect these prices to change over time.
