Every Gundam Card Game Starter Deck, Ranked
Gundam Card Game is here and it’s good. And unlike some TCGs, the starter decks feel like the backbone of what your competitive deck is going to be when fully upgraded. Given the investment and liklihood that your first Gundam Card Game deck is going to be heavily influenced by what you pick for your starter deck, you’re probably wondering which Gundam starter deck is best?
In this guide, we’ll be taking a closer look at every Gundam Card Game Starter deck and ranking them from good to great.
#4 Zeon’s Rush
I should really start this list by first saying none of the Gundam starter decks are bad. However, Zeon’s Rush has a few problematic holes in its strategy that can be hard to overcome – at least with just the starter deck alone.
It’s strongest card is quite strong: the Sinanju is an absolute beast that would lead many to quake in their boots. However, the rest of the deck is composed primarily of weaker characters aimed at being easy to play rapidly against your opponent. This strategy works when it works, but can often fizzle out after the initial “rush” has gone through, leaving you and your shield wide open to an onslaught of attacks.
#3 Seed Strike
Seed Strike is your midrange deck proficient at controlling the board. However, they manage to do so in slightly different ways. Perhaps one of the nicest things about playing Seed Strike is its utility.
Take, for example, its emphasis on returning opposing Units to the hand. This feels like a powerful strategy in a game that usually prefers to remove units via damage. However, bouncing units affords some serious advantages, such as not having to damage your own units by battling them. The strongest Unit capable of doing this is Aile Strike Gundam.
However that’s not to say bouncing to the hand is the only powerful play at your disposal. You also have another Gundam entirely capable of the powerful Breach keywords, and also the Aegis Gundam that dishes out damage when attacking.
If you’re looking for a midrange style deck that has a little bit of everything, Seed Strike is the Gundam Card Game starter deck for you.
#2 Wings of Advance
Wings of Advance benefits from having the strongest high end power Unit of all the starter decks in Wing Gundam.
Capable of taking down active Units, benefiting from an insane stat boost thanks to Heero, and also complete with an unwholesome Breach 5 makes Wing Gundam an absolute menace, and really few cards can do much to stop it. Otherwise, this deck just has so many tools to do what it needs to do in order to get the job done, like dishing out additional damage, adding extra resources to use, and more.
Speaking of damage, you have arguably one of the most effective damage dealers in the game in the form of Gundam Heavyarms.
This Unit will deal one damage to all opposing Units (Lv 3 or lower), massively softening up your opponent’s defenses and making them far easier to destroy. Manage to get several of these into play and you could potentially wipe your opponent’s board: a powerful strategy to use against aggro decks.
If you like building decks around a few key cards that really pop off later in the game, then Wings of Advance is the right deck for you.
#1 Heroic Beginnings
Heroic Beginnings is a solid deck with a very combat-focused approach to gameplay. When piloting this deck you’ll find yourself effortlessly linking your Pilot to powerful Gundam Units, pulling off combos that inflict damage while resting opposing characters, and going for the kill with your strongest Gundam being one that self heals each turn.
Being rewarded for taking out opposing units in battle makes this deck very fun to pilot. And while it may lack some of the more deadly keywords available to other decks such as the powerful Breach, it makes up for this with combos that enable you to rest opposing characters, lower AP, and enable positive trades between units so you can dominate the battlefield before going for your opponent’s shield.
