Mega Evolution English Spoilers and Card List
Ready for the Pokemon TCG to change completely as you know it? That’s what’s about to happen with the international release of Pokemon TCG: Mega Evolution on September 26, 2025.
In Mega Evolution, we will once again be getting three-prize Pokemon in the Pokemon TCG meta. We’ve not had three-prize Pokemon since the halcyon days of Sword and Shield, and they invariably will alter the way the game is played.
With many gorgeous spoilers now having been leaked via the Pokemon Company, we have a very solid idea of how groundbreaking this set will be. Still, plenty of cards have yet to be revealed, so make sure to keep checking back as I’ll be updating this page with even more Mega Evolution English cards.

Mega Pokemon ex
Given this set is all about Mega Evolution, the most exciting cards from the set are Mega Pokemon ex. Despite being three-prize Pokemon like the Pokemon VMAX from Sword and Shield, Mega Pokemon ex don’t evolve from basic Pokemon but rather evolve in the usual way. For example, the Mega Venusaur ex evolves from Ivysaur, not a Venusaur ex. Ultimately this is probably a better mechanic than the VMAX before it, leading to the game still being played with a focus on Stage 2 Pokemon, and all the accouterments that come with those sots of decks that make them distinct from decks focused on basic Pokemon or even Stage 1 Pokemon.
Mega Venusaur ex
Stage 2 Mega Pokemon are going to be difficult deal with simply because of their hyper-powerful HP. Most existing Pokemon decks will be forced to swing into them twice in order to knock them out, while a premium will certainly be placed on attackers capable of toppling a Mega Evolution in a single blow.
That being said, this particular Venusaur ex doesn’t look particularly overpowered, needing four grass energy to deal just 240 damage.
Mega Latias ex
Mega Latias ex, however, feels like a significant jump in power levels from the Venusaur ex in just about everywhere. It’s a basic Pokemon ex, meaning you don’t have to evolve it and can get it to work much faster. While it lacks the high HP of Venusaur, 280 is still very solid for a basic Pokemon, and its draconic typing means it doesn’t have a weakness. Lastly, Illusory Impulse is a strong attack, dishing out 300 damage. Latias ex feels like a very fun attacker to build a deck around, assuming you have some kind of solid support to accelerate energy onto it.
Mega Gardevoir ex
This Gardevoir ex feels scary. While Overflowing Wishes feels like a solid way to accelerate energy, you probably aren’t going to want to spend a turn using it. Instead, you’ll be looking for alternate ways to accelerate energy onto your Pokemon…i.e. via the existing Gardevoir ex. Combined with Psychic Embrace and this Mega Gardevoir ex virtually has no limit to the kind of damage it can deal.
Mega Lucario ex
We’ll see if Lucario ex ends up being competitively viable. While always a fan favorite, we haven’t had a real solid Lucario deck in some time. Will Mega Brave be enough to make this Lucario ex a star attacker? Dealing 270 damage as a Stage 1 attacker feels pretty good, especially given some of the damage modification already revealed for this set.
Mega Evolution Single Prize Pokemon
Although the main focus of the Mega Evolution spoiler season thus far has been on the Mega Pokemon ex, we’ve started to get a nice trickling of just regular single-prize Pokemon card spoilers from the set.
Celebi
Celebi’s Traverse Time attack could be a really solid pick for Grass box decks – especially those running the powerful Mega Venusaur ex strategy. Being able to stack your hand full of grass type Pokemon and the new grass focused stadium brings some serious consistency into your strategy, and makes a solid first turn attacker for a deck that really needs some significant set up.
Raikou
Raikou works very well as a single prize attacker in many electric decks. As most electric attackers in the game right now focus on loading up the board with a ton of energies, you should easily have the requirements necessary to power up Electro Fall to a 120 damage attack. True – that won’t knock out any Mega Pokemon out there in one shot, but it’s a great way to enable to a positive prize trade early on.
Pachirisu
Pachirisu brings another first turn attacker into the fold of electric type decks. For a single Lightning energy it can dish out 8 damage to an opposing active Pokemon when their opponent attaches an energy to it. It’s not as solid as the Celebi but could be an interesting tech in some decks.
Grafaiai
If Miraculous Paint didn’t rely on a coin flip to work, I could actually see Grafaiai being a solid pick for poison control decks.
Mega Evolution Trainer Cards
We’ve already had a first hand look at several trainer cards coming out in Mega Evolution.
Premium Power Pro
Lucario already looks to be getting some of the support it needs thanks to the Premium Power Pro and its ability to enhance damage output by 30. You could run four of these in your deck, and increase Lucario’s damage output to a max of 390 damage – enough to knock out even Mega Venusaur ex in one hit!
Forest of Vitality
As an ardent grass-type deck fan, I can’t express how excited I am about Forest of Vitality. This is a huge advantage to any grass deck, giving you free reign to evolve your grass Pokemon whenever you want. It’s going to be a must-have in every evolution grass deck.
Lillie’s Determination
Lillie’s Determination is a handy new draw supporter making its way into the game in Mega Evolution. And she’s pretty good, letting you draw either six or eight cards after shuffling your hand into your deck. While most would prefer a card like Professor’s Research, this could work well in decks that dislike discarding any cards if they don’t have to.
Wally’s Compassion
Wally’s Compassion isn’t the first card of its kind to enter the Pokemon TCG. Cheryl was the last card like this, and was a popular choice in Pokemon VMAX decks. Pokemon cards that can easily accelerate energy will benefit the most from this card, especially those high HP attackers who take multiple hits to knockout.
Mega Evolutions Special Illustration Rare card spoilers and secret rares
The Pokemon Company broke slightly from form here and released four hot Special Illustration Rare cards for Mega Evolution at the same time via a social post on X. While I dive into each card in more detail via my guide to the top chase cards in Mega Evolution, one thing that is worth noting here is that the Bulbasaur, Ivysaur, and Venusaur all connect together, forming one extended artwork.
Mega Lucario ex – Ultra Rare
Mega Lucario ex was officially leaked via the Pokemon TCG X account, and it features a bold new look for ultra rare Pokemon – one filled to the brim with exciting colors and plenty of drama. Unlike some past ultra rare cards that have felt like a nice-to-have but not necessarily a chase, many will be more than excited to pull this excellently designed card.
Mega Manetric ex – Ultra Rare
We’ve also been given a preview of the ultra rare Mega Manetric ultra rare. This card follows the same bold design concept as the Lucario above, only the colors and palette are tailored to the Pokemon.
Marshadow – Illustration Rare
My favorite memory of this particular Pokemon is from the epic I Choose You movie (also arguably my favorite Pokemon film of all time). I could be wrong but this epic chase card seems to be intentionally referencing that movie, and the moment pictured in this exciting illustration is much like that moment in the forest where Marshadow influences Ash.
Lt. Surge’s Bargain
Lt. Surge’s Bargain is a reprint of a classic card from the very earliest days of the Pokemon TCG. While it feels a bit of a gimmick at first, it could actually have its uses. Force your opponent between giving up a prize and potentially losing an edge in the prize race or allowing you to draw four cards is quite the pickle.
Mega Evolution promo cards
In addition to the cards we’ll be getting in the main Pokemon set, we also have a look at several promos you can get via special products, like the Mega Evolution ETB or Enhanced Booster box.
Riolu
This exhilarating Riolu card can only be found in the Mega Evolution ETB featuring Mega Lucario.
Alakazam
Meanwhile, Alakazam is the promo you’ll be getting if you choose to go with the Mega Gardevoir ex ETB.
Bulbasaur
This alternate art, Illustration Rare Bulbasaur will be included in the Enhanced Booster boxes for Mega Evolution. We’ll most likely be getting the same IR card in booster packs, albeit without the stamp.
Xerneas and Yveltal
As if you really needed more reason to buy Pokemon cards, you can get these two special stamped promos at participating retailers when you spend $15 or more on Pokemon TCG products.
Prerelease promos
The Mega Evolution prerelease promos can only be obtained via the Mega Evolution Build and Battle Box – obtainable from your LGS or online via my partners at TCGPlayer. This set’s promos look very solid, offering a variety of different strategies that all feel sound and quite exciting to build decks around. For more info on these promos and prerelease deck building tips, check out my Mega Evolution prerelease promo ranking.
Mega Evolution products
Additionally, the full Mega Evolution product lineup has been revealed, including the standard range of products you would expect from a main Pokemon TCG set, as well as a few extra and interesting products, like the special binder collection featuring Mega Evolution Pokemon.
As if we hadn’t already had enough stellar Pokemon TCG releases this year, Mega Evolution should be just as big as what we’ve seen. With nostalgic favorites, exciting new mechanics, and the popular Mega Evolution focus, there’s something for everyone in this landmark set.
