Pizza Deck Code Geass Vol. 2 | UNION ARENA

The Pizza deck remains one of my all time favorite UNION ARENA decks. It’s fun, versatile, and – in the right scenarios – deadly. Code Geass Vol. 2 makes the deck significantly stronger. Instead of having to pair it with other red strategies to create a hybrid deck, with the support you get in Vol. 2, Pizza just works on its own.

Below, we’ll be looking at my custom build for Code Geass: Pizza Deck Vol. 2.

How to update the Pizza Deck to Vol. 2

Although there really are only two new cards coming to the Pizza strategy in Code Geass Vol. 2, these two cards dramatically change the way you play the deck. Indeed, you can much more easily play this deck as a straight Pizza build without relying much on outside help.

The first and most important new add is the powerful C.C. Raid. Thanks to this card, Pizza becomes very centered on the Lelouch/C.C. Raid combo – something which brings considerable consistency to this deck.

Of course, with a powerful new raid is also a powerful new raid target, and that’s two-cost C.C. You could make the argument that two-cost C.C. is even more effective than the Raid, enabling you to quickly bolster your energy line so you can make more powerful plays more reliably.

Running both at four creates plenty of consistency for this deck while removing the need to include peripheral strategies like I did in my Rare Battle winning Pizza list.

A few tips and tricks for playing your Raid. C.C.

As I said in my Code Geass Vol. 2 Rare Battle Guide, those wanting to run Pizza should do a little practice before heading to a tournament. You might think this Pizza deck runs just like it used to but running the C.C. Raid in this decks means having to do significantly more resource management than before, specifically in regards to how you manage the cards in your hand.

For example, in the past I would always play my one-cost Delivery Pizza card ASAP, as doing so means seeing more cards and unlocking more options. However, in a hand that is largely solid, you might not want to play those Delivery Pizza too soon, especially if you plan to Raid a C.C. that turn.

Raid C.C. has you discard two cards from hand before drawing three more, and the most ideal target for this discard effect are your Pizza cards.

Three-cost Lelouch is also another decent target. He’s the guy you’re going to be looking to bring back with your Raid C.C.’s “When Sidelined” effect, so as long as you don’t need him as a Raid target, for your energy curve, or to get that one last Pizza card, he’s a solid second option.

Because of your Raid C.C.’s ability to bring back this three-cost Lelouch, you don’t really need the Ganymede that was a staple in first set decks.

While the ultimate goal of Code Geass Pizza hasn’t changed, thanks to Vol. 2 it feels much more like its own deck, capable of solidly challenging the meta. You’re still looking to get six Pizza into the sideline as quickly as possible to power up your two-AP C.C. But with Raid C.C. and the two-cost C.C., this deck feels much more like it’s own complete deck – one that’s faster, more consistent, and complete with solid removal, double attack, and plenty of draw.
