Pokemon Paldean Fates Guide– Release Date, Products & Rare Cards

Although it’s been rumored for a while, the Pokemon Company just confirmed that we will be getting a very exciting special set this upcoming January, 2024.

Paldean Fates Release Date

Inspired by past special sets featuring the ultra popular Shiny Pokemon, Paldean Fates is set to release worldwide on January 26, 2024.

However, not every product will be releasing on that day. You’ll have to checkout our Paldean Fates product guide below to get the specifics on which products release when.

Paldean Fates Fast Facts

Paldean Fates is a shiny set, meaning Pokemon will be appearing in their shining form. Shining Pokemon are rare, alternate colorings that occur in the wild.

Paldean Fates will boast more than 240 cards and have:

More than 100 Shiny Pokémon including 11 shiny Pokémon ex
Three illustration rare cards featuring Shiny Pokémon
Brand-new Pokémon ex
A handful of full-art Supporter cards
Six hyper rare cards

Last but not least, Paldean Fates is based off of the Japanese special set Shiny Treasure ex which released on December 1, 2023.

The Pokemon company has given us a pretty detailed rundown of what to expect for the products to come out with the Paldean Fates release. These include:

Scarlet & Violet—Paldean Fates Pokémon Center Elite Trainer Box

The Pokemon Center Elite Trainer Box is a Pokemon Center exclusive product that includes 11 Scarlet & Violet—Paldean Fates booster packs; two copies of an illustration rare-style promo card featuring Mimikyu, with one showcasing the Pokémon Center logo; and various gameplay accessories.

Although you can only get these directly from Pokemon Center, TCGplayer also tends to have plenty of these available, so we’ll be sharing more info on how to preorder from them soon.

Scarlet & Violet—Paldean Fates Elite Trainer Box

Elite Trainer Boxes are often the best way to get exposed to the newest cards from special sets. As special sets aren’t available in Booster Boxes, getting your hands on an ETB is the often the most affordable and exciting way to collect.

This one is actually pretty cool as I’ve not seen a Pokemon product include a decal that you can put on your laptop. I’m sure a lot of fans are going to love it.

The Tech Sticker Collection includes three Scarlet & Violet—Paldean Fates booster packs; one Shiny promo card featuring Fidough, Maschiff or Greavard; and one large corresponding sticker for personalizing laptops, tablets and other tech devices.

Scarlet & Violet—Paldean Fates Mini Tin (available Feb. 9, 2024)

Includes two Scarlet & Violet—Paldean Fates booster packs, one sticker sheet and one art card matching the tin, featuring Maushold, Smoliv, Tinkatink, Finizen or Flamigo. If past Mini Tins are any indicator of how successful this one will be, we’re likely to see a lot of buzz around these special tins.

Scarlet & Violet—Paldean Fates Tin

The Paldean Fates tin includes four Scarlet & Violet—Paldean Fates booster packs and one Shiny Pokémon ex promo card featuring Tera Charizard ex, Great Tusk ex or Iron Treads ex. I’m guessing people will be lining up in droves to get the Tera Charizard ex. You can tell how popular that particular product is by just how much more expensive its preorder price is than the others.

Premium collections like these from special sets are often among the best Pokemon TCG sealed products to buy, so undoubtedly you’ll want to keep this one on your radar, albeit it is releasing slightly later than the other products on this list.

This Premium Colelctoin includes:

Eight Scarlet & Violet—Paldean Fates booster packs;

Lastly, the booster bundle is a great way to get a good value while collecting the cards you want in the wild from this upcoming epic set. The Pokemon Company has revealed that this set’s booster bundles will includes six Scarlet & Violet—Paldean Fates booster packs.

Paldean Fates Mini Tins

If you’re looking for something small but fun, you can also pick up a Paldean Fates Mini Tin. Each one contains two Pokémon TCG: Scarlet & Violet-Paldean Fates booster packs, a sticker sheet and a Pokémon art card.

Paldean Fates Release Date on Pokemon TCG Live

The Pokemon company also gives updates on when we’ll be able to play with Paldean Fates cards online, saying in their press release: “Ahead of the release of the tabletop version, Trainers will be able to play with Scarlet & Violet—Paldean Fates digitally via the Pokémon TCG Live app for iOS, Android, macOS and Windows devices on Jan. 25, 2024. The expansion will be available in the in-game shop, where players can redeem Crystals earned by completing daily quests for various Scarlet & Violet—Paldean Fates products.”

Special sets like these are usually bigger for collectors than they are for players. However, they often include one or two interesting new mechanics that impact the meta. So we’ll be waiting eagerly to see what those are this time around.
