Illumineer’s Troves Get an Upgrade in Lorcana’s Third Set: Into the Inklands

There’s a reason Illumineer Troves are our favorite Lorcana product. They’re the right mixture of value, affordability while still delivering plenty of opportunity to pull rare and valuable cards. In fact, we’ve had a lot of good luck with pulls from Illumineer Troves, getting plenty of legendary rare cards and foils to add to our collection.

That being said, the Troves from set one and two (The First Chapter and Rise of the Floodborn) weren’t without their imperfections. Troves from the First Chapter were just a box. While they looked beautiful on the outside, their ability to help you store your cards weren’t all that great. How do you store a bunch of cards in a box? How do you organize them?

Indeed, I used them to store deck boxes and dice and not cards.

Troves from Rise of the Floodborn changed all that, and while they lost their glossy veneer on the front in place of a more affordable matte finish, they gained a divider that you can take in or out, making it much easier to store a lot of cards vertically.

I now use Illumineer Troves to store all of my Lorcana bulk, and currently I use dividers from my Pokemon ETBs to sort Ink types out.

However, Illumineer Troves are getting a pretty massive upgrade in Lorcana’s Third Set: Into the Inklands. Here’s what they will include and why we are excited.

Illumineer’s Troves ditch flimsy deck boxes in third set

Here’s some really good news first: goodbye flimsy deck boxes included in Illumineer’s Troves! I’m sure I’m not the only one who really disliked these boxes that really didn’t feel super helpful for storing cards in. I have a bunch of them lying around at this point and really can’t figure out much of a use for them. Certainly they were not much of a value add for the otherwise stupendous product Troves are.

Instead of these flimsy deck boxes, Troves will include several additional options that will make them much more attractive to both Lorcana players and collectors.

Into the Inklands Illumineer Troves include dividers and a lore counter

Into the Inklands: Illumineer’s Trove

In Lorcana’s third set, Into the Inklands have become basically perfect, with everything we love from the Troves before with the helpful additions of dividers themed after each ink type, giving you a real way to sort and organize your cards in an efficient manner.

Yet even more exciting is that for the first time, players will have access to buy an official Disney Lorcana Lore Counter dial. I’ve only ever come across these at local tournaments, and man they are helpful! Instead of having to use a tracker on a playmat the way many players do, or to whip out your phone to count lore digitally, you can instead easily track your lore at the turn of a dial. It’s that simple!

While yeah plenty of other ways to track lore exisit, I’m glad Lorcana products will finally include an easy way to track it directly out of the box. Lore is, after all, what the game is all about, so we should have an easy way to track it that doesn’t require extensive battery drain.

For a better look at what’s going to be included in Disney Lorcana Illumineer’s Troves from Into the Inklands, see the picture below.

Contents:

  • 1 Card storage box

  • 6 Card Dividers

  • 8 Booster packs of 12 additional game cards each

  • 6 Damage-counter dice

  • 1 Lore counter

Newly included damage counter dice will be helpful for new players

In addition to the new lore counter and card dividers, many players will be excited to know that the Illumineer Trove’s from Into the Inklands will also include six damage-counter dice. While this might be less exciting for seasoned TCG players who likely already have their own useable dice lying around, new players may not have dice handy to use, making this pretty helpful. In addition, from the picture above, the damage counter dice actually look really cool. I’d certainly replace my six sided die with these chic looking damage counter dice in a heartbeat!

With these upgrades, Into the Inklands Illumineer’s Troves promise to be the greatest yet. You can preorder yours today via TCGplayer and get the best current market price!
