Pokemon 151 Pull Rates – Will You Pull a Secret Rare?

Figuring out the pull rates of any given Pokemon expansion can be tough. Lucky for us, others have done the work, spent the money, opened the packs, and reported on their results. Below is the composite data from several sources on what pull rates you can expect from your Pokemon 151 packs.

From our own limited experience, we can also attest to strong pull rates, given we’ve gotten at least one secret rare in both products we’ve opened so far (the Elite Trainer Box and the Poster Collection).

Given how desirable these Pokemon secret rare cards are, pulling the secret rare could get you a really strong score. Below, let’s dive into the pull rates for Pokemon 151.

Pokemon 151 Pull Rates – Chance Per Pack

What Are Your Odds of Pulling a Foil Energy?

Foil energies are pretty cool, and as it turns out, your odds of getting a foil energy are about 25%. That’s good news if you are looking to bling out your deck or really like collecting energies. In our limited experience opening packs, we got three foil energies, so we can attest to the wide availability of foil energy cards.

What Are Your Odds of Pulling a Hyper Rare

Several sources report around a 2-3% pull rate for hyper rare cards. The hyper rares of this set are those gold color cards. 2% may not seem like a whole lot, but if you open enough packs, it’s possible you’ll get one. Of course, these are just statistics, and your actual experience pulling cards could vary greatly.

What Are Your Chances of Pulling an Ultra Rare?

Luckily for collectors, ultra rare cards are relatively easier to come by than hyper rares. Your odds of getting an ultra rare are about 6% which comes out to 1 in 16 packs. So if you open enough packs, you could very likely score one of these highly sought after ultra rare cards.

What About Illustration Rares?

Now getting to the really interesting part. How likely are you to pull an illustration rare Pokemon 151 card? Sources vary here, but it seems that you are likely to pull Illustration rare cards about 8% of the time. That means your likelihood of pulling an illustration rare is actually greater than pulling an ultra rare. I suppose that makes sense given this expansion’s focus on illustration rare cards.

Special Illustration Rare Pull Rate

Now, the moment you’ve all been waiting for. How likely are you to pull one of those super awesome, super rare special illustration rare cards from Pokemon 151?

Well, as it so happens your odds of pulling a special illustration rare are relatively good! Hovering around 3-3.5%. That comes out to 1 in 32 packs. While that may not sound super great, compare that to the odds of pulling an alternate art card from the Sword and Shield era which was something like 1 in 100-200 packs, and suddenly odds seem a lot better.

However, those odds drop significantly below 1% if you are looking for a specific illustration rare, so you might be better off just purchasing the rare cards you want, especially since their market values are pretty reasonable right now.

Does Pokemon 151 Have Good Pull Rates?

Despite fears that pull rates for Pokemon 151 would be low, pull rates so far appear to be very similar to the pull rates from Pokemon Paldea Evolved and other Scarlet and Violet Era sets. So we can’t really say that Pokemon 151’s pull rates are fantastic, but they’re also not bad. They’re pretty much on par with the standard Scarlet and Violet has set in regards to pulling rare cards.
