5 Best Romantic Relationships in Naruto Ranked

Besides the epic fights and hero’s journey, Naruto also has some pretty great romances. These are the five best romances, ranked.

Jiraiya and Tsunade

Say what you want, but there’s definitely some chemistry going on between Jiraiya and Tsunade. Although Tsunade already loved somebody else, and she seems unable to get over Orochimaru, or the fact that Jiraiya wasn’t able to save their third team member as he promised.

However, when Jiraiya passes, she’s unable to suppress her sadness. She had just resolved to finally professing her love to Jiraiya as well. So it kind of sucked that the Pervy Sage never returned from his mission to the Village Hidden in the Mist.

Shikamaru and Temari

Since they faced off in the Chunin exams, Shikamaru and Temari had some obvious chemistry. Years later, they would seal the deal for real. Which was pretty cool to see. Sort of an “enemies to lovers” situation. What’s more, Shikamaru and Temari are a fan favorite, because their relationship really does feel genuine.

Asuma and Kurenai

One of the most tragic relationships in the series, Asuma is killed before he is even able to meet his daughter. It’s also sort of strange because Asuma and Kurenai keep their relationship semi-secret. The reason for this is never really given, but it may have been because they worked together?

Asuma’s death is the first real death of the show (besides the old man Hokage), and it serves to show how much darker Shippuden promised to be at its start than the relatively kiddy Naruto had been. Because of this, few who have seen the Akatsuki Supression arc will forget the love betwen these two characters.

Kurenai further imortalizes their love by giving her daughter Ausma’s last name, and later taking his name, as well.

Naruto and Hinata

It’s funny because from the start, Naruto mostly adores Sakura. Eventually, however, he realizes his love for Hinata. Hinata is quiet as opposed to Naruto’s loudness, but his spirit and perseverance act as a huge inspiration for her. Probably the best moment for these two in the entire series happens during the Pain Assault arc where Hinata sacrifices herself to help Naruto.

Of course, Naruto and Hinata end up having Boruto together, and it turns out that Naruto is a little too absorbed in his duties to pay enough attention to his kids. However…he is the leader of a major nation so it kind of makes sense.

Minato and Kushina

Minato is one of the strongest Naruto characters of all. He’s also a great father. Whereas Naruto might have trouble prioritizing his work life with his family life, this is not something that Minato shares. In fact, Minato seems to be a pretty normal guy when he’s around the home – despite the fact that he’s known around the ninja world as the yellow flash and rival nations literally have orders to flee on sight when he enters the fray.

Kushina is no slouch, either, and it’s in part thanks to her and her ancient bloodline that Naruto has such exceptional chakra – enough to handle a tailed beast. Her attitude is more where Naruto gets his loudness from. But either way, they are an exceptional couple who are willing to do the hard but right thing when the time comes, and sacrifice their life for their child, and their nation.
